Physical model for the generation of ideal resources in multipartite quantum networking

2010

We propose a physical model for generating multipartite entangled states of spin-$s$ particles that have important applications in distributed quantum information processing. Our protocol is based on a process where mobile spins induce the interaction among remote scattering centers. As such, a major advantage lies on the management of stationary and well separated spins. Among the generable states, there is a class of $N$-qubit singlets allowing for optimal quantum telecloning in a scalable and controllable way. We also show how to prepare Aharonov, W and Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states.

Socioemotional Wealth and Networking in the Internationalisation of Family SMEs

2021

In internationalisation processes, international expansion exposes family SMEs to external networking and the risks such expansion entails, and perceived threats to their socioemotional wealth (SEW) might restrain their willingness to take these actions. However, very few studies measure SEW and associate it with internationalisation. Considering SEW preservation’s prominence in family SMEs and SMEs’ heavy dependence on networking during internationalisation, we hypothesise that SEW preservation has a negative association and networking has a positive association with the family SMEs’ degree of internationalisation (DOI). We reconstruct four SEW constructs that carry significance for family…

Assessment of the impacts of an oil spill on the populations of common guillemot (Uria aalge) and long-tailed duck (Clangula hyemalis) - an expert kn…

2012

The amount of operated oil transports continues to increase in the Gulf of Finland and in the case of an accident hazardous amounts of oil may be spilled into the sea. The oil accident may be harmful for the common guillemot and long-tailed duck populations. In this study expert knowledge regarding the behaviour and population dynamics of common guillemot and long-tailed duck in the Gulf of Finland was used to build a model to assess the impacts of an oil spill on the mortality and population size of these species. The Bayesian networks were used in the modelling. Based on the results the breeding colony of guillemots in Aspskär may survive in the consequence of recolonization. In conclusio…

Anàlisi feminista de les xarxes socials de les migrants colombianes al País Valencià

2010

The results of this piece of research2 on migrant women3 are presented from a feminist approach. The research shows the current diversity in migration processes and, specifically, the key role of finding out the social practices of political migrants. The differences and similarities found in the two groups' social networks and practices are identified and compared from a social point of view, through a completely new interpretation of the concepts of economic and political migrants. This research thus aims to understand the characteristics of participative practices within the group of Colombian migrants living and taking part in two societies at the same time.

WSN localization scheme based on Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) for ZigBee Networks

2015

International audience; Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have diverse application domains such as smart home, smart care, industrial, etc. We present a WSN system based on the ZigBee technology (IEEE 802.15.4) in Smart Home. In our paper we interest to ZigBee protocol is often used in medical Rehabilitation, which is a relatively new concept involving wireless transmission of data from the sensors attached to a patient to a distant monitoring station. There is no standardized topology managing the current networks, therefore, we will compare and evaluate the performance the mobility of nodes for star topologies in different scenarios to determine which is the most suitable in a typical hospi…

2020

Hierarchy and centrality are two popular notions used to characterize the importance of entities in complex systems. Indeed, many complex systems exhibit a natural hierarchical structure, and centrality is a fundamental characteristic allowing to identify key constituents. Several measures based on various aspects of network topology have been proposed in order to quantify these concepts. While numerous studies have investigated whether centrality measures convey redundant information, how centrality and hierarchy measures are related is still an open issue. In this paper, we investigate the association between centrality and hierarchy using several correlation and similarity evaluation mea…

Neural Networks Ensemble for Cyclosporine Concentration Monitoring

2001

This paper proposes the use of neural networks ensemble for predicting the cyclosporine A (CyA)concen tration in kidney transplant patients. In order to optimize clinical outcomes and to reduce the cost associated with patient care, accurate prediction of CyA concentrations is the main objective of therapeutic drug monitoring. Thirty-two renal allograft patients and different factors (age, weight, gender, creatinine and post-transplantation days, together with past dosages and concentrations)w ere studied to obtain the best models. Three kinds of networks (multilayer perceptron, FIR network, Elman recurrent network) and the formation of neural-network ensembles were used. The FIR network, y…

Improving the stability bound for the PPH nonlinear subdivision scheme for data coming from strictly convex functions

2021

Abstract Subdivision schemes are widely used in the generation of curves and surfaces, and therefore they are applied in a variety of interesting applications from geological reconstructions of unaccessible regions to cartoon film productions or car and ship manufacturing. In most cases dealing with a convexity preserving subdivision scheme is needed to accurately reproduce the required surfaces. Stability respect to the initial input data is also crucial in applications. The so called PPH nonlinear subdivision scheme is proven to be both convexity preserving and stable. The tighter the stability bound the better controlled is the final output error. In this article a more accurate stabilit…

An attribute based access control scheme for secure sharing of electronic health records

2016

Electronic health records (EHRs) play a vital role in modern health industry, allowing the possibility of flexible sharing of health information in the quest of provisioning advanced and efficient healthcare services for the users. Although sharing of EHRs has significant benefits, given that such records contain lot of sensitive information, secure sharing of EHRs is of paramount importance. Thus, there is a need for the realization of sophisticated access control mechanisms for secure sharing of EHRs, which has attracted significant interest from the research community. The most prominent access control schemes for sharing of EHRs found in literature are role based and such solutions have…

Collaboration and collaborative information technologies

1999

Collaborative information technologies have been claimed to enhance collaboration in organizations, under certain conditions. This claim was found problematic in several respects, also in the light of the results of 18 case studies of Lotus Notes use, taken from the literature. The cases may be split into three groups: (1) exploratory, conservative, or cautious use; (2) planned and expanding use; and (3) extensive and engaged use of Notes. In the first group, no changes in work arrangements due to Notes use could be found. In the second group, the planned Notes applications supported the established work arrangements, both collaborative and hierarchical. Only in the third group were there s…
