A Data-Driven Architecture for Personalized QoE Management in 5G Wireless Networks
2017
With the emergence of a variety of new wireless network types, business types, and QoS in a more autonomic, diverse, and interactive manner, it is envisioned that a new era of personalized services has arrived, which emphasizes users' requirements and service experiences. As a result, users' QoE will become one of the key features in 5G/future networks. In this article, we first review the state of the art of QoE research from several perspectives, including definition, influencing factors, assessment methods, QoE models, and control methods. Then a data-driven architecture for enhancing personalized QoE is proposed for 5G networks. Under this architecture, we specifically propose a two-ste…
Kata Containers: An Emerging Architecture for Enabling MEC Services in Fast and Secure Way
2019
New coming applications will be only possible through Mobile Edge Servers deployed in proximity of the mobile users. Due to the user's mobility and server's workload, service migration will be an integral part of the services. For this reason, a standardized architecture should be designed to accomplish a workload migration in a secure and timely manner. Most research done to date has focused on the use of either virtual machine (VM) or container or a mix of both recently. A final solution might be an architecture only having the advantages of both technologies as the security of the VM and the speed of the containers. Custom solutions, actually, by using both technologies, need continuous …
A Simulation Analysis for Assessing the Reliability of AC/DC Hybrid Microgrids - Part I: Underground Station and Car Parking
2021
This paper reports the results of a simulation study with the aim of evaluating the capability of two portions of a hybrid AC/DC MV/LV network of maintaining their operation in off-grid mode during the loss of the main AC grid due to a failure. In particular, the study aims to verify, in the case of islanded operation of the two microgrids, the continuity of the electricity service by exploiting the local generation plants, Energy Storage Systems (ESSs), and other flexible resources managed by suitable algorithms in different energy scenarios. The analysis was carried out considering two microgrids: an underground station and a car parking with Electric Vehicles (EVs). For assessing the per…
Improvement of a Service Level Negotiation Protocol using Formal Verification
2013
International audience; The goal of the pervasive connectivity is to enable mobile users to be permanently connected to the Internet. Mobile users are often connected to wireless networks and consuming services that require quality of service guarantees. Accessing services using wireless technologies may make the service delivery vulnerable to security attacks because of the open medium of these technologies. In this context, we need to guarantee both quality of service and security for mobile users communications. In this paper, we present a protocol for service level negotiation which covers both quality of service and security and assigns a profile to each user in order to optimize and a…
Secure interworking with P2PSIP and IMS
2010
In this paper, we propose a secure system model for interconnection between P2PSIP and IMS domains. The interworking solution is based on P2P-IMS GateWay (PIGW), which acts as a normal peer in P2PSIP network and a 3rd party IMS Application Server (AS) in IMS network. The security is achieved by implementing Chord Secure Proxy (CSP) and enhanced with subjective logic based trust model. We also implement this system model and analyze it in several aspects: number of hops and delay, trust improvement and protection against malicious or compromised intermediate peers. We conclude that the proposed architecture is feasible and improves security. As far as we know our research is the first study …
Trust management in tactical coalition software defined networks
2018
This paper reports from ongoing efforts related to trust management in tactical Software Defined Networks (SDN) when used with mobile nodes in a coalition operation. We analyze the problem space and suggests a set of security and contructional requirements, as well as an analysis on how existing technology may contribute to a solution. The proposed architecture serves as a guide for current and future experimentation on trust management and protection in SDN. The paper also reports from experimental investigations into the utility of these technology elements for the present purpose.
Push-Over Analysis of RC Frame with Corroded Rebar
2019
Abstract As known, the Italian building heritage largely consists of reinforced concrete frames designed before the ‘80s, which are, in many cases, built in the absence of specific anti-seismic criteria. Moreover, many of them, today, are characterized by bad structural conditions. Moreover, the problem of the structural conditions of the existing buildings, and their residual strength capacity, is often linked to the deterioration induced by the corrosive phenomena, which end up having a big impact on steel rebar mechanical properties. In this work, in order to investigate the influence of corrosion-damage on seismic response of existing reinforced concrete structures, a study has been car…
7th Winter School on “Research Methodology in social sciences, urban studies and spatial planning”. Università degli Studi di Firenze, gennaio 2020
2020
Winter Schools are intensive in-depths programs, platforms of knowledge, cultural exchange and network opportunities. The 7th Winter School on Research Methodology in social sciences, urban studies, and spatial planning offered Ph.D students and young academics the opportunity to have a deep insight into research methods, career, and academic job market. The event was organized by the Department of Architecture of the University of Florence (DiDA) and hosted in Complesso Le Murate from 29th to 31st January 2020. The Winter School, such as its previous editions, has a specific focus on pre-methodological and methodological questions. During the three-day scheduled program, each participant h…
The Urban Theory
2014
