Virtual design and construction of buildings and architectural spaces require extensive collaboration among a diverse set of design professionals. The authors analyze e-collaboration performance in two construction projects of differing complexity, to gain an understanding of how collaborative design based on building information modeling (BIM) is influenced by the complexity of the building project. The findings suggest that the perceived business value of BIM depends on project complexity and that BIM-based collaboration does not yield unconditional positive implications for all types of construction projects. Neural Sensorless Control of Linear Induction Motors by a Full-Order Luenberger Observer Considering the End Effects

This paper proposes a neural based full-order Luenberger adaptive speed observer for sensorless linear induction motor (LIM) drives, where the linear speed is estimated with the total least squares (TLS) EXIN neuron. A novel state space-vector representation of the LIM has been deduced, taking into consideration its dynamic end effects. The state equations of the LIM have been rearranged into a matrix form to be solved, in terms of the LIM linear speed, by any least squares technique. Unlike in overlay cognitive radio networks, secondary users in underlay cognitive radio networks can access licensed spectrum even at the presence of a primary user, given that the interference caused by the secondary transmission is lower than a pre-specified threshold. Real-time weighting optimization in Chinese Postman Problem

International audience; In this study, based on real-time constraint, an optimization method is proposed for solving the problem of the optimal tour. For that, we will construct a graph containing the real-time state of traffic. The collected data will be used to predict the future state traffic and to give an optimized cost of the tour. This optimization is tested in different sizes of the road networks. The results show that the proposed method is efficient and effective in solving the Chinese Postman Problem in real-time.
Service restoration in compensated distribution networks using a hybrid genetic algorithm

In this paper a genetic algorithm (GA) based approach to the service restoration (SR) problem in automated distribution networks is presented. Normal operation within the network comprises both automatic reconfiguration and compensation so as to reduce power losses, allow load balancing and improve the voltage profile. In the restorative state, the reconfiguration is performed together with compensation, taking mainly into account the load supply requirement and secondarily, the losses reduction requirement. A cooperative lifetime extension MAC protocol in duty cycle enabled wireless sensor networks

To reduce energy consumption in wireless sensor networks, the concept of duty cycle is used in many MAC protocols. Although these protocols provide efficient energy-conservation solutions, they cannot resolve the energy hole problem in a multi-hop network, where a few nodes near the sink must relay the packets from the rest of the network, and consequently exhaust their batteries earlier. The previously proposed REACT forwarding protocol triggers the cooperation of several nodes to extend transmission range and hop over the highly burdened node, thereby allowing it to save its energy and extend the lifetime of the network.
