Biological control of Fusarium culmorum isolated from the cultivation of white asparagus by Pseudomonas fluorescens
2017
Wśród izolatów uzyskanych z gleby najbardziej dominującymi patogenami były F. oxysporum i F. culmorum. Właściwości biologiczne nielotnych i lotnych związków Ps I-4 oceniano metodą hodowlano-płytkową na podłożach PDA i Czapka. Aktywność przeciwgrzybową określano na podstawie indeksu tempa wzrostu, zdolności kiełkowania zarodników, stopnia zahamowania wzrostu grzybni i zarodników. Wyniki wykazały różnice w aktywności przeciwgrzybowej P. fluorescens, w zależności od wieku i gęstości hodowl…
Carrot [Daucus carota L.] allelochemicals as a chemomediators between organisms
2004
The chemical mediations which affect carrot (Daucus carota L.) growth in the context of the ecological interactions of this common vegetable with microorganisms, insects and competing plants are reported. Literature data and results of these study confirm, that carrot plants are well equipped with defensive and offensive chemical mechanisms, which allow them to avoid or to decrease the negative influence of competitors and pathogens. What is worthy of note the chemicals involved in these processes might be treated as the leading structures to design for new environmental friendly pesticides.
Water-stable cellulose fiber foam with antimicrobial properties for bio based low-density materials
2018
New bio-based packaging materials are highly interesting for replacing conventional fossil based products for a more sustainable society. Waterstable cellulose fiber foams have been produced in a simple one-batch foam-forming process with drying under ambient conditions. The cellulose fiber foams have a low density (33–66 kg/m3) and can inhibit microbial growth; two highly valuable features for insulating packaging materials, especially in combination with stability in water. Cationic chitosan and/or polyvinylamine have been added during the foamforming process to give the foams water-stability and antimicrobial properties. The structural and mechanical properties of the cellulose fiber foa…

Synthesis and structure-activity relationship studies of new 3-methyl-5-(5-propyl-1H-1-R'-3-pyrazolyl)-1H-1-R-4-nitrosopyrazoles as antimicotic agents
2015
We have reported that some 4-nitrosopyrazoles derivatives displayed in vitro and in vivo potent antifungal activity at no cytotoxic concentration and some of these compounds were 4 times more potent than Amphotericine B and Fluconazole respectively against Cryptococcus.Neoformans and C. Krusei. We reported also that the absence of NO group or its replacement with NO2 or NH2 groups gave compounds devoid of antimycotical activity. To better understand the mechanism of action and with the aim of identifying the chemical features responsible for the action, we synthesized and tested a new class of compounds in which the 4-NO group was replaced with 4-CN group having, these last, similar steric a…
Supramolecular Structure and Antimicrobial Activity of Ni(II) Complexes with s-Triazine/Hydrazine Type Ligand
2023
The two complexes, [Ni(DPPT)2](NO3)2*1.5H2O (1) and [Ni(DPPT)(NO3)Cl].EtOH (2), were synthesized using the self-assembly of (E)-2,4-di(piperidin-1-yl)-6-(2-(1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethylidene)hydrazinyl)-1,3,5-triazine (DPPT) with Ni(NO3)2*6H2O in the absence and presence of NiCl2*6H2O, respectively. In both cases, the neutral tridentate DPPT ligand is found coordinated to the Ni(II) via three N-atoms from the hydrazone, pyridine and s-triazine rings. Hence, the homoleptic complex 1 has a NiN6 hexa-coordination environment while two NO3− are counter anions in addition to one-and-a-half crystallized hydration water molecules are found acting as an outer sphere. The heteroleptic complex 2 has a NiN3O…
Fungal biodiversity and in situ conservation in Italy
2011
A remarkable increase in knowledge of fungal biodiversity in Italy has occurred in the last five years. The authors report up-to-date numbers of fungi (Basidiomycota and Ascomycota) by regions together with distributional and ecological data on hypogeous fungi. Specific case studies such as alpine fungi, orchid mycorrhizas symbionts, invasive species, and the use of macrofungi as food by red squirrels are analyzed. In situ conservation strategies carried out on target species and/or taxonomic groups are also indicated.
Biocontrol activities of Pseudomonas fluorescens against asparagus pathogen
2016
Pseudomonas spp. and their metabolites present environmentally friendly alternative to chemical products to improve plant growth in many different applications. Extensive studies have shown that these microorganisms and their metabolites could have an important role in agriculture and horticulture in improving crop productivity. The aim of the research was to assess a potential biological activity of Pseudomonas fluorescens against Fusarium oxysporum isolated from the spears of asparagus. The antagonistic properties of metabolites were assayed with a dual culture plate method on PDA and Czapek media for supernatants obtained from 6, 12, 24 and 48-hour culture of P. fluorescens. The culturin…
Constraints on neutrino speed, weak equivalence principle violation, Lorentz invariance violation, and dual lensing from the first high-energy astrop…
2018
We derive stringent constraints on neutrino speed, weak equivalence principle violation, Lorentz invariance violation, and dual lensing from the first high-energy astrophysical neutrino source: TXS 0506+056. Observation of neutrino (IceCube-170922A) and photons in a similar time frame and from the same direction is used to derive these limits. We describe ways in which these constraints can be further improved by orders of magnitude.
