Il contributo, utilizzando documenti inediti, esamina alcune suppellettili liturgiche in stile neoclassico della Chiesa Madre di Petralia Sottana. Tra questi l’ostensorio del 1817 in argento e pietre preziose commissionato dall’arciprete don Antonio Mancusi agli argentieri di Acireale (Ct) Alfio e Salvatore Strano che lo hanno realizzato avvalendosi della collaborazione di Antonino Sirretta e Salvatore Maddalena. Positron production using a 9 MeV electron linac for the GBAR experiment

For the GBAR (Gravitational Behaviour of Antihydrogen at Rest) experiment at CERN's Antiproton Decelerator (AD) facility we have constructed a source of slow positrons, which uses a low-energy electron linear accelerator (linac). The driver linac produces electrons of 9 MeV kinetic energy that create positrons from bremsstrahlung-induced pair production. Staying below 10 MeV ensures no persistent radioactive activation in the target zone and that the radiation level outside the biological shield is safe for public access. The dehumanization of whiteness in Maxine Hong Kingston’s The Woman Warrior (1976) inheres in the overarching ghosthood metaphor. While first generation Chinese American immigrants in The Woman Warrior attribute the power of transforming people into ghosts to the United States of America as a country, the questioning of a person’s humanity by calling them a “ghost” is not reserved for white people alone. Chinese American immigrants also run the risk of losing their humanity and becoming ghosts if they renounce their relatives and their heritage. The forecasts referring to the effectiveness of the system introduced by the law act in 1999 show that the retirement pensions paid in the future from the obligatory part of the system will be low and they will significantly decrease the life level of the pensioners. The forecasted low level of the effectiveness of the new pension system leads to a bigger interest in solutions which can partially reduce the poverty level of the future pensioners.
