Students with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are a growing group served under special education services in many western societies. This article describes the history and current state of the services, as well as the assessment procedure. Our conclusion is that the status of students with ADHD in Finnish basic education (Grades 1 to 9) is still unclear. Based on the comparison of the prevalence and the population served in special education we can assume that this group is probably underserved in the Finnish school system. This study addresses the conceptual outlines of the financial capabilities of moth- ers. It examines how the perspectives and concepts of the capability approach can be utilized in outlining the relationship between motherhood and financial aspects. The aim is to develop conceptual tools for analyzing the choices and financial agency of mothers. Non-standard work schedules (NSWS) have become typical, but their associations with childcare arrangements and children's well-being are unknown. This study explores how risk factors are associated with the social–emotional well-being of girls and boys using flexibly scheduled early childhood education and care. Furthermore, the study investigates whether well-functioning cooperation between parents and educators buffers the negative effects of the risk factors. Liikuntatehtäviä kotiläksyinä : koulun ulkopuolella tapahtuva oppiminen opetuksen tukena tyttöjen liikunnassa

Tässä liikuntaläksykokeilussa tutkittiin, miten erilaiset liikunnalliset kotitehtävät, liikuntaläksyt, toteutuivat koululiikunnan osana ja miten oppilaat kokivat liikuntaläksyt sekä oman osallisuutensa niiden tekemisessä. Liikuntaläksykokeilu toteutettiin lukuvuonna 2015–2016 keskisuomalaisessa koulussa 6.–9.-luokan tyttöjen kanssa, yhteensä 117 tyttöä. Liikuntaläksykokeilun päätteeksi tehdyn oppilaskyselyn vastaukset analysoitiin frekvenssien, ristiintaulukoiden (khiin neliötesti) ja keskiarvovertailujen avulla (varianssianalyysi ja t-testi). Nuorten fyysiseen aktiivisuuteen vaikuttavien tekijöiden tunteminen on perusteltua paitsi nuoruusiän terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin tukemiseksi niin myös yleisemmin kansanterveydellisistä syistä. Tutkimusten mukaan sekä vanhemmat että kaverit vaikuttavat monin eri tavoin lasten ja nuorten fyysiseen aktiivisuuteen ja liikuntaan sosiaalistumiseen. Monen nuoren kohdalla liikunnan harrastaminen hiipuu murrosiässä, mutta sosiaalinen tuki näyttäisi olevan yksi fyysistä aktiivisuutta ylläpitävistä tekijöistä. Ottaa ihmisen vastaan ihmisenä : vanhemmuuden haasteet ja vanhemmuuden tukeminen maahanmuuttajavanhempien ja ammattilaisten kokemana

Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää maahanmuuttajavanhempien ja heidän kanssa työtä tekevien ammattilaisten kokemuksia maahanmuuttajien vanhemmuuden haasteista ja vanhemmuuden tukemisesta pikkulapsiperheissä. Lisäksi selvitimme maahanmuuttajavanhempien kokemuksia neuvolasta. Suomessa kyseisiä aiheita on tutkittu vähän, joten koimme tärkeäksi tuoda lisää tutkimustietoa saataville. Aineisto kerättiin haastattelemalla kahdeksaa maahanmuuttajavanhempaa sekä kolmea ammattilaista. Haastattelut toteutettiin toukokuun ja syyskuun välisenä aikana vuonna 2017 ja tutkimus oli laadullinen. Tutkimuksen lähestymistapana sovellettiin fenomenologiaa.
