Pyridine-Incorporated Dihexylquaterthiophene: A Novel Blue Emitter for Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs)

The synthesis and characterisation of 2,5-bis(5′-hexyl-[2,2′-bithiophen]-5-yl)pyridine (Th4PY) and its use as a blue emitter in organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) is reported. Th4PY was synthesised in high yield using a straightforward Suzuki coupling route with commercially available starting materials. As Th4PY is both soluble and has low molecular weight, blue OLEDs were fabricated using both spin-coating and vacuum deposition thin film processing techniques to study the effect of processing on device performance. On the low-lying singlet excited states of styrene: a theoretical contribution

The present contribution analyses the trans–cis photoisomerization mechanism of ethene and styrene on the singlet manifold. Within the framework of multiconfigurational second-order perturbation theory (CASPT2), the extended multistate approach (MS-CASPT2) is found to be flexible enough to describe energy hypersurfaces adiabatically. For ethene, torsion about the CC bond towards a perpendicular structure leads to a situation where the energy difference between the ground and the lowest excited state is still too large (2.5 eV) for efficient radiationless decay. Esto ha convertido a la epidemiología en la principal herramienta de generación de conocimiento en el ámbito médico. La epidemiología aprende sobre las enfermedades a partir de la observación de la salud en colectivos de personas, en lugar de la observación individual de éstas. GPU accelerated Monte Carlo simulations of lattice spin models

We consider Monte Carlo simulations of classical spin models of statistical mechanics using the massively parallel architecture provided by graphics processing units (GPUs). We discuss simulations of models with discrete and continuous variables, and using an array of algorithms ranging from single-spin flip Metropolis updates over cluster algorithms to multicanonical and Wang-Landau techniques to judge the scope and limitations of GPU accelerated computation in this field. For most simulations discussed, we find significant speed-ups by two to three orders of magnitude as compared to single-threaded CPU implementations.
Macro-micro relationship in nanostructured functional composites

This paper examines the results of the characterization of two functional composites: Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)-Ce:YAG (yttrium aluminium garnet doped with cerium) and PMMA-cobalt hexacyanoferrate (CoHCF). The composites were prepared as possible emitters in the fields of lighting thermal sensors. The prepared composites were char- acterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, thermogravi- metric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) analyses to study the correlation between micro and macro characteristics. In Mandarin, the word for the world is shìjiè (mandarin 世界), the morpheme shì (mandarin 世) indicates time, while the morpheme jiè (mandarin界) indicates space.
