[1,2,3]Triazolo[1,5-a]pyridyl phosphines reflecting the influence of phosphorus lone pair orientation on spectroscopic properties

A series of new triazolopyridine-based phosphines has been prepared. These compounds revealed unexpected spectroscopic patterns. In particular, the NMR spectra are highly dependent on the relative conformational preference of the phosphine substituent at C7. Here, we report on their complete NMR analysis, X-ray structures and DFT calculations that confirm the particular arrangement of the phosphorus lone pair orbital related to the substituent pattern of the chosen phosphine.

Abstract The synthesis and structural characterization of Ni II , Cu II and Zn II complexes of two chelating 1,2,4-oxadiazole ligands, namely 3,5-bis(2′-pyridyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole (bipyOXA) and 3-(2′-pyridyl)5-(phenyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole (pyOXA), is here reported. The formed hexacoordinated metal complexes are [M(bipyOXA) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ](ClO 4 ) 2 and [M(pyOXA) 2 (ClO 4 ) 2 ], respectively (M = Ni, Cu, Zn). X-ray crystallography, 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopy and C, N, H elemental analysis data concord in attributing them an octahedral coordination geometry. Abstract Three steroidal dipyrromethanes, 3,3,24,24-tetrakis(pyrrol-2-yl)-5β-cholane 1 , 3,3-bis(pyrrol-2-yl)-5β-cholan-24-oic acid 2 , and methyl 3,3-bis(pyrrol-2-yl)-5β-cholan-24-oate 3 , have been prepared from 3α-hydroxy-5β-cholan-24-oic acid (lithocholic acid) 4 in good overall yields. The structures of 1 – 3 have been fully characterized by 1 H, 13 C, PFG DQF 1 H– 1 H COSY, 1 H– 1 H ROESY, 13 C DEPT-135, PFG 1 H– 13 C HMQC, PFG 1 H– 13 C HMBC, and PFG 1 H– 15 N HMBC NMR spectra. Molecular dynamics near the glass transition

Solid state 13C NMR spectroscopy has been applied to investigate the time scale and the geometry of rotational motions near the glass transition of the low-molar-mass van der Waals glass former 1,3,5-tri-α-naphthylbenzene (T g = 342 K). Two-dimensional 13C exchange spectra were taken between 347 and 372 K. With the principal values of the 13C chemical shift tensors determined from 13C CP/MAS spectra and static one-dimensional 13C spectra, the two-dimensional spectra are interpreted according to the isotropic rotational diffusional model to yield mean correlation times τ0 in the range 10 ms ˇ- τ0 ˇ- 50 s, and a log-Gaussian distribution of correlation times with a width of 1·5 decades. In this article we report results of combined theoretical and experimental NMR studies on muscimol, the bioactive alkaloid from fly agaric mushroom (Amanita muscaria). The assignment of (1)H and (13)C NMR spectra of muscimol in DMSO-d6 was supported by additional two-dimensional heteronuclear correlated spectra (2D NMR) and gauge independent atomic orbital (GIAO) NMR calculations using density functional theory (DFT). Oxazole ring occurs in numerous natural peptides, but conformational properties of the amino acid residue containing the oxazole ring in place of the C-terminal amide bond are poorly recognized. A series of model compounds constituted by the oxazole-amino acids occurring in nature, that is, oxazole-alanine (L-Ala-Ozl), oxazole-dehydroalanine (ΔAla-Ozl), and oxazole-dehydrobutyrine ((Z)-ΔAbu-Ozl), was investigated using theoretical calculations supported by FTIR and NMR spectra and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Using cobalt or nickel to replace copper in native azurin allows one to fingerprint the metal coordination site of the protein. The metal sites of wild type Alcaligenes denitrificans azurin and its M121Q mutant are clearly distinguishable through the paramagnetic 1H NMR spectra of the Ni(II) and Co(II) derivatives. In the wild type azurin, Gly45 coordinates to nickel or cobalt, while Met121 appears as a weak metal ligand. On the contrary, in the M121Q azurin mutant, the metal exhibits a clear preference for the Gln121, which coordinates through the side chain carbonyl oxygen, and Gly45 is not a ligand. Abstract The coordination of amino acids ortho-tyrosine (o-Tyr, 1) and trans-4-hydroxyproline (HPro, 2) with the biologically important trivalent metal ions Al(III) and Fe(III) in aqueous solution was investigated by 1H and 13C high resolution NMR, Laser Desorption Mass Spectrometry (LD-MS), and MS/MS experiments. Potentiometric measurements were also carried out in 0.16 M NaCl, 37 °C, by varying the pH between 2.0 and 3.5.
