Selective Cobalt over Nickel separation using neat and confined ionic liquids

International audience; Task Specific Ionic Liquids (TSILs) generated by association between tetraalkylammonium cations and coordinating anions such as dicyanamide (Dca-) and thiocyanate (SCN-) were used for the selective separation of Ni(II) over Co(II). SCN-based TSIL presents higher extraction efficiency than the Dca-based one towards Co(II) (E = 85.4 % vs 54.6 %) and Ni (II) (E = 22 % vs 0.5%) but lower separation factors (βCo/Ni = 21 vs 239). Interestingly, extraction of Co(II) and Ni(II) in Dca-based TSIL can be enhanced using salts with chaotropic anions such as NaNO3 (E > 90 % for Co(II) and E = 85% for Ni(II)). Abstract We report new results of small-angle neutron scattering from cyclohexane- d 12 /lecithin/water micellar solutions, performed as a function of the water content, w 0 , the temperature, T and the dispersed-phase volume fraction, ф. The data from dilute samples can be interpreted in terms of the existence of giant cylindrical reverse micelles, in good agreement with the current idea of an unlimited micellar growth with ф. A scalable, single step, synthetic approach for the manufacture of biocompatible, functionalized microgels and nanogels has been developed. Pulsed EB irradiation of PVP aqueous solutions, at relatively low energies per pulse and doses within the sterilization dose range, has led to a variety of ‘as-born’ sterile, functional nanostructures that exhibit a combination of favourable properties which make them suitable as biomedical nanocarriers. Gelation and gel properties of two- and three-component pyrene based low molecular weight organogelators

The research described in this thesis covers the synthesis, characterization and the study of the gelation ability of fteen pyrene based low molecular weight organogelators (LMOGs). The gelation and gel properties were investigated by rheometry, scanning electron microscopy, di erential scanning calorimetry, UV-Vis and uorescence spectroscopy. Oligonucleotides-decorated-poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidone) nanogels for gene delivery

Pulsed electron-beam irradiation of a semi-dilute poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) aqueous solution in the presence of acrylic acid has led to a carboxyl functionalized nanogel system. Nanoparticles hydrodynamic size and surface charge density, in water and as a function of pH, were investigated by dynamic light scattering and laser doppler velocimetry, respectively. Nanogels (NGs) were proved not to be cytotoxic at the cellular level. Supramolecular Hydro- and Ionogels: A Study of Their Properties and Antibacterial Activity.

Diimidazolium-based organic salts, bearing peptides or amino acids as anions have been synthesised and tested for their gelling ability in biocompatible solvents. These low molecular weight salts were successfully used as gelators in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) solution and ionic liquids. Then, the properties of the obtained soft materials were analysed in terms of melting temperature and gel strength as accounted for by rheological investigations.
