This review discusses the physiology of natriuretic peptides as a group and brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) in more detail. It will also highlight implications for the use of the natriuretic peptides in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease.The heart secretes two major natriuretic peptides: atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), which is synthesized in the atrial myocardium, and BNP, which is synthesized in the ventricular myocardium. Both ANP and BNP are released in response to atrial and ventricular stretch, respectively, and will cause balanced vasodilation, natriuresis, and inhibition of the sympathetic nervous system and the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone axis. …
Time–carbonyl groups equivalence in photo-oxidative aging of virgin/recycled polymer blends

AbstractThe photo-oxidation behaviour of polymers is strongly dependent on the initial amount of carbonyl groups along the chains. The growing use of recycled post-consumer polymers coming from products used outdoors and then photo-oxidised, both pure and blended with the same virgin polymer, gives rise to an unpredictable behaviour of weathering resistance of products made with these materials. The present work shows that the carbonyl group–exposure time curves can be shifted along the time axis to give a single generalised master plot. The voluntary supply of collective goods by nonprofit institutions has deserved little attention in the Public Choice literature, and the clasical nonprofits approach does not consider nonprofits supply as a collective decision, although individuals, either as consumers or as donors, are in the center of their theoretical constructs. In this paper we hypothesize that voluntary nonprofits' provision is a collective choice.
