Elämä on nähty merkittävänä aiheena Bergsonin filosofiassa. Measures of the Massive Mountain in Aleksis Kivi’s Play Kullervo

The story of a prisoner inside an enormous steel mountain is embedded in Kullervo, an early Finnish tragedy by 19th-century author Aleksis Kivi. I focus here on the exceptional size of the mountain, as told by the main character, Kullervo. Although the embedded story has aroused admiration in research, the mountain’s size and form do not appear to have done so. If taken literally, and assuming the shape of a double pyramid, at a minimum, the mountain’s surface area would be between that of Earth and Uranus, a planet that Kivi was somehow aware of. National audience; Nous avons récemment proposé (1, 2) deux modèles thermodynamiques pour les équilibres divariants entre la vapeur d'eau et les hydrates salins solides. Le premier postule l'existence d'une solution solide d'insertion d'eau dans le sel, le second postule l'existence d'une solution solide de substitution entre deux hydrates du sel. Le but de ce travail est d'établir un nouveau critère permettant de distinguer les deux modèles à partir de l'expérience et de délimiter le domaine divariant dans chacun des deux cas. Understanding Batesian mimicry is a classic problem in evolutionary biology. In Batesian mimicry, a defended species (the model) is mimicked by an undefended species (the mimic). Prior theories have emphasized the role of predator behavior and learning as well as evolution in model-mimic complexes but have not examined the role of population dynamics in potentially governing the relative abundances and even persistence of model-mimic systems. Here, we examined the effect of the population dynamics of predators and alternative prey on the prevalence of warning-signaling prey composed of models and mimics.
