A comparison of two models explaining the same phenomenon : a comparative analysis of cultural intelligence and the integrated model of intercultural…
2013
The present study compares the model of Cultural Intelligence (CQ) with the Integrated Model of Intercultural Communication Competence (IMICC). Both models explain the phenomenon of intercultural competence (ICC) but were developed in different disciplines. This study is motivated by similarities that have been discovered on a superficial level between the two models, the criticism of some CQ scholars that CQ is a cleaner construct than ICC models (e.g. Ang & Van Dyne, 2008), and the difficulty of developing instruments that are coherent with its conceptual definition (Blalock, 1982). This study is driven by the need to develop coherent, reliable, and valid models and instruments, especiall…
Genetic Distinctiveness Highlights the Conservation Value of a Sicilian Manna Ash Germplasm Collection Assigned to Fraxinus angustifolia (Oleaceae)
2020
The cosmopolitan genus Fraxinus comprises about 40 species occupying several habitats in the Northern Hemisphere. With some species hybridizing and sharing genetic variants, questions remain on the species assignment of germplasm within the genus Fraxinus despite numerous species-specific assessments. A multidisciplinary approach was employed to provide a definitive insight into the genetics of an endangered Fraxinus &ldquo
Transsacral rectocele following combined neurinoma resection: A case report
2015
Highlights • Case of a combined (transsacral and laparoscopic) resection of a presacral tumour. • First described case of a transsacral rectocele two years after this procedure. • Possibility of laparoscopic defect repair of transsacral defects.
Legitimacy and relevance of a performance measurement system in a Finnish public-sector case
2019
Purpose This study investigates the difficulties involved in translating stakeholder expectations into action and maintaining legitimacy through the use of a performance measurement system (PMS) created in a Finnish regional development company (RDC). This longitudinal case study illustrates the fluctuating and socially constructed nature of legitimacy in the public sector. Design/methodology/approach This qualitative case study longitudinally analyzes the various developments occurring during and after the development of a PMS system for the case organization. Empirical data include interviews, workshops, observation and other materials relating to the case organization. Findings The init…
Mental health promotion competencies in the health sector based on a Delphi study
2018
Purpose Effective public mental health policy and practice call for a trained workforce that is competent in mental health promotion and delivering on improved mental health. Systematic information on what competencies are needed for mental health promotion practice in the health sector is lacking. The purpose of this paper is to investigate these competencies for mental health promotion. Design/methodology/approach A Delphi survey was carried out to facilitate a consensus-building process on development of the competencies. Professionals (n=32) working in mental health and mental health promotion took part in the survey. The experts were asked their professional views on the needed compet…
Strong Emission Enhancement in pH-Responsive 2:2 Cucurbit[8]uril Complexes
2019
Organic fluorophores, particularly stimuli-responsive molecules, are very interesting for biological and material sciences applications, but frequently limited by aggregation- and rotation-caused photoluminescence quenching. A series of easily accessible bipyridinium fluorophores, whose emission is quenched by a twisted intramolecular charge-transfer (TICT) mechanism, is reported. Encapsulation in a cucurbit[7]uril host gave a 1:1 complex exhibiting a moderate emission increase due to destabilization of the TICT state inside the apolar cucurbituril cavity. A much stronger fluorescence enhancement is observed in 2:2 complexes with the larger cucurbit[8]uril, which is caused by additional con…
Tilgangsstyring av elektronisk pasientjournal : en Delphistudie av dagens utfordringer og synliggjøring av potensielle forbedringer
2014
Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI 500 Universitetet Agder 2014 In health care, access to sensitive information about patients is a necessity in order to offer care to the patient, and maintain patient safety. At the same time it is important that the information is protected against unauthorized access, to ensure patient privacy. Access control is an essential function in electronic health records (EHR) to maintain the duality between patient safety and patient privacy by ensuring that authorized personnel are allowed access to information they need. However, care processes are often unpredictable, and a number of end users can be involved in treatment across organizational un…
