Modeling Networks of Probabilistic Memristors in SPICE

2021

Efficient simulation of stochastic memristors and their networks requires novel modeling approaches. Utilizing a master equation to find occupation probabilities of network states is a recent major departure from typical memristor modeling [Chaos, solitons fractals 142, 110385 (2021)]. In the present article we show how to implement such master equations in SPICE – a general purpose circuit simulation program. In the case studies we simulate the dynamics of acdriven probabilistic binary and multi-state memristors, and dc-driven networks of probabilistic binary and multi-state memristors. Our SPICE results are in perfect agreement with known analytical solutions. Examples of LTspice code are…

2019

This study aimed at evaluating the microtensile bond strength (MTBS) and fractographic features of dentine-bonded specimens created using universal adhesives applied in etch-and-rinse (ER) or self-etching (SE) mode in combination with modern ion-releasing resin-modified glass-ionomer cement (RMGIC)-based materials after load cycling and artificial saliva aging. Assessment of the microbiological quality and wash treatments of lettuce served in University restaurants

2000

Abstract One hundred and forty-four samples of lettuce from 16 University restaurants were analyzed. The mesophilic aerobic counts of all samples ranged from 3.01 to 7.81 log 10 CFU g −1 . Results of total coliforms ranged from 3.38 log 10 most probable number (MPN) g −1 . Of the lettuce samples, 25.7% harbored Escherichia coli , 22.9% Staphylococcus aureus and 84% group D streptococci. Similarly, 10.4% of the samples harbored Aeromonas hydrophila , 2.8% Pseudomonas aeruginosa , and coliforms such as 14.6% Citrobacter freundii , 8.3% Klebsiella pneumoniae , 4.2% Enterobacter cloacae and 1.4% Providencia spp. Salmonella , Shigella and E. coli O157:H7 were not detected. When sodium hypochlori…

Modulation of physical and biological properties of a composite PLLA and polyaspartamide derivative obtained via thermally induced phase separation (…

2016

Abstract In the present study, blend of poly l -lactic acid (PLLA) with a graft copolymer based on α,β-poly(N-hydroxyethyl)- dl -aspartamide and PLA named PHEA-PLA, has been used to design porous scaffold by using Thermally Induced Phase Separation (TIPS) technique. Starting from a homogeneous ternary solution of polymers, dioxane and deionised water, PLLA/PHEA-PLA porous foams have been produced by varying the polymers concentration and de-mixing temperature in metastable region. Results have shown that scaffolds prepared with a polymer concentration of 4% and de-mixing temperature of 22.5 °C are the best among those assessed, due to their optimal pore size and interconnection. SEM and DSC…

A COMPOSITE PLLA SCAFFOLD FOR REGENERATION OF COMPLEX TISSUES

2010

A composite biodegradable scaffold incorporating an integrated network of synthetic blood vessels was designed and prepared, in line with the requirements of a scaffold effectively supporting the regeneration of highly vascularized tissues. In other words, this composite scaffold should allow the regeneration of complex injured tissue (e.g. dermis) and, at the same time, favour the development of a vascular network on its inner, i.e. a 3D polymeric scaffolds embedding synthetic blood vessel-like structures for nutrient supply and metabolite removal. PLLA assures a high degree of biocompatibility and a low level of inflammation response upon implantation, while the embedded tubular vessel-li…

Calculation of the first-orders-wave optical potential in pionic atoms

1989

A microscopic calculation of the first-order s-wave optical potential in pionic atoms which allows the inclusion of the off-shell dependence in momentum of the s-wave \ensuremath{\pi}N amplitude is carried out. Binding effects are also properly taken into account. The results obtained, together with those of the second-order optical potential, are in disagreement with phenomenological optical potentials. The results of the paper suggest the need of new and precise experiments on \ensuremath{\pi}N scattering at low energies and other experiments which can provide precise values of the \ensuremath{\pi}N scattering lengths.

Heavy-Flavor Contribution to Bhabha Scattering

2008

We evaluate the last missing piece of the two-loop QED corrections to the high-energy electron-positron scattering cross section originating from the vacuum polarization by heavy fermions. The calculation is performed within a new approach applicable to a wide class of perturbative problems with mass hierarchy. The result is crucial for the high-precision physics program at existing and future e(+) e(-) colliders.

On Obtaining Classification Confidence, Ranked Predictions and AUC with Tsetlin Machines

2020

Tsetlin machines (TMs) are a promising approach to machine learning that uses Tsetlin Automata to produce patterns in propositional logic, leading to binary (hard) classifications. In many applications, however, one needs to know the confidence of classifications, e.g. to facilitate risk management. In this paper, we propose a novel scheme for measuring TM confidence based on the logistic function, calculated from the propositional logic patterns that match the input. We then use this scheme to trade off precision against recall, producing area under receiver operating characteristic curves (AUC) for TMs. Empirically, using four real-world datasets, we show that AUC is a more sensitive meas…

Biochemistry and molecular biology techniques for person characterization

2008

Using the traditional serological tests and the most novel techniques for DNA fingerprinting, forensic scientists scan different traits that vary from person to person and use the data to include or exclude suspects based on matching with the evidence obtained in a criminal case. Although the forensic application of these methods is well known, the procedures and techniques used to obtain these results are not so well studied. Here, we report a laboratory exercise aimed to familiarize the students in several of the methods and markers employed for people individualization. With this exercise, students have to characterize themselves and an unknown sample according to the following character…

Interactive roll stabilization comparative analysis for large yacht: gyroscope versus active fins

2020

The problem of the active stabilization of ship motions is particularly important in the case of pleasure boats or in any case of passenger ships, since the commercial value of the ship is directly related to the comfort of the load transported in this case “people”, considered as stresses induced on them by the vessel movements, with particular attention to roll, given the ship geometric characteristics. Naval architects developed trough the years different solutions to reduce the roll of the ship, and consequentially to increase the passengers comfort, and the development of this solutions followed the progress of technology. Active fins have been the most used, but now the gyroscope solu…
