New special function recurrences giving new indefinite integrals
2018
ABSTRACTSequences of new recurrence relations are presented for Bessel functions, parabolic cylinder functions and associated Legendre functions. The sequences correspond to values of an integer variable r and are generalizations of each conventional recurrence relation, which correspond to r=1. The sequences can be extended indefinitely, though the relations become progressively more intricate as r increases. These relations all have the form of a first-order linear inhomogeneous differential equation, which can be solved by an integrating factor. This gives a very general indefinite integral for each recurrence. The method can be applied to other special functions which have conventional …
Expansions of the solutions of the confluent Heun equation in terms of the incomplete Beta and the Appell generalized hypergeometric functions
2015
We construct several expansions of the solutions of the confluent Heun equation in terms of the incomplete Beta functions and the Appell generalized hypergeometric functions of two variables of the first kind. The coefficients of different expansions obey four-, five-, or six-term recurrence relations that are reduced to ones involving less number of terms only in a few exceptional cases. The conditions for deriving finite-sum solutions via termination of the series are discussed.
Frames and representing systems in Fréchet spaces and their duals
2014
[EN] Frames and Bessel sequences in Fr\'echet spaces and their duals are defined and studied. Their relation with Schauder frames and representing systems is analyzed. The abstract results presented here, when applied to concrete spaces of analytic functions, give many examples and consequences about sampling sets and Dirichlet series expansions.
A maximal Function Approach to Two-Measure Poincaré Inequalities
2018
This paper extends the self-improvement result of Keith and Zhong in Keith and Zhong (Ann. Math. 167(2):575–599, 2008) to the two-measure case. Our main result shows that a two-measure (p, p)-Poincare inequality for $$10$$ under a balance condition on the measures. The corresponding result for a maximal Poincare inequality is also considered. In this case the left-hand side in the Poincare inequality is replaced with an integral of a sharp maximal function and the results hold without a balance condition. Moreover, validity of maximal Poincare inequalities is used to characterize the self-improvement of two-measure Poincare inequalities. Examples are constructed to illustrate the role of t…
Cheeger-harmonic functions in metric measure spaces revisited
2014
Abstract Let ( X , d , μ ) be a complete metric measure space, with μ a locally doubling measure, that supports a local weak L 2 -Poincare inequality. By assuming a heat semigroup type curvature condition, we prove that Cheeger-harmonic functions are Lipschitz continuous on ( X , d , μ ) . Gradient estimates for Cheeger-harmonic functions and solutions to a class of non-linear Poisson type equations are presented.
Bessel sequences, Riesz-like bases and operators in Triplets of Hilbert spaces
2016
Riesz-like bases for a triplet of Hilbert spaces are investigated, in connection with an analogous study for more general rigged Hilbert spaces performed in a previous paper. It is shown, in particular, that every \(\omega \)-independent, complete (total) Bessel sequence is a (strict) Riesz-like basis in a convenient triplet of Hilbert spaces. An application to non self-adjoint Schrodinger-type operators is considered. Moreover, some of the simplest operators we can define by them and their dual bases are studied.
Riemann-Hilbert approach to the time-dependent generalized sine kernel
2011
We derive the leading asymptotic behavior and build a new series representation for the Fredholm determinant of integrable integral operators appearing in the representation of the time and distance dependent correlation functions of integrable models described by a six-vertex R-matrix. This series representation opens a systematic way for the computation of the long-time, long-distance asymptotic expansion for the correlation functions of the aforementioned integrable models away from their free fermion point. Our method builds on a Riemann–Hilbert based analysis.
Some representation theorems for sesquilinear forms
2016
The possibility of getting a Radon-Nikodym type theorem and a Lebesgue-like decomposition for a non necessarily positive sesquilinear $\Omega$ form defined on a vector space $\mathcal D$, with respect to a given positive form $\Theta$ defined on $\D$, is explored. The main result consists in showing that a sesquilinear form $\Omega$ is $\Theta$-regular, in the sense that it has a Radon-Nikodym type representation, if and only if it satisfies a sort Cauchy-Schwarz inequality whose right hand side is implemented by a positive sesquilinear form which is $\Theta$-absolutely continuous. In the particular case where $\Theta$ is an inner product in $\mathcal D$, this class of sesquilinear form cov…
Jacobian of weak limits of Sobolev homeomorphisms
2016
Abstract Let Ω be a domain in ℝ n {\mathbb{R}^{n}} , where n = 2 , 3 {n=2,3} . Suppose that a sequence of Sobolev homeomorphisms f k : Ω → ℝ n {f_{k}\colon\Omega\to\mathbb{R}^{n}} with positive Jacobian determinants, J ( x , f k ) > 0 {J(x,f_{k})>0} , converges weakly in W 1 , p ( Ω , ℝ n ) {W^{1,p}(\Omega,\mathbb{R}^{n})} , for some p ⩾ 1 {p\geqslant 1} , to a mapping f. We show that J ( x , f ) ⩾ 0 {J(x,f)\geqslant 0} a.e. in Ω. Generalizations to higher dimensions are also given.
