Emerging identity of Finnish nurse teachers: student teachers' narratives in a group exam.

2005

Summary In Finland students pursuing in Master's Degree Programme have a previous degree in nursing from polytechnics. Nurse teacher qualification also includes at least five year's experience of working in practice. This article concentrates on the conflicts student teachers brought up in a group exam as regards changing a nurse's identity into a teacher's identity in teacher training. The approach of the study on this group was narrative. The data were collected by videotaping two group exam situations (five hours in all) of volunteer student teachers ( N =5) during the last course (Nurse teacher's inquiring mind) of their nurse teacher studies in 2002. The representation of work in the French narration since the Thirty Glorious Years

2017

There has been a resurgence of interest in the theme of work, since the end of the Thirty Glorious Years. Initially centered on a few emblematic works, there has emerged in subsequent years, multifaceted forms of expression that do not lend themselves easily to unifying categorisation. However, a specific literariness has emerged on this theme that reflects an originality that is unique within the realm of literary production. Whilst all writers hesitate about the best means to narrate human activities, those who write about work face particular difficulties in defining their position and status. The notion of fiction itself is challenged as it shifts between the domain of the real and the …

“SEE, HEAR, REMAIN SILENT AND… BORED” IN THE FIELDWORK OF A PRISON: AN AUTOETHNOGRAFIC STORY

2017

Phenomenology and Semiotics. Crossing Perspectives.

2015

In recent years the study of relationships between semiotics and phenomenology seems to be entering a period of renewed vitality and creativity (CADIOT & VISETTI 2001; ROSENTHAL & VISETTI 2008; 2010; PIOTROWSKI 2009; FONTANILLE 2008; BONDÌ 2012). For a variety of theoretical and historical reasons, there has been a constant osmosis between phenomenological and semiotic methods. In short, on one side, the works and investigations of phenomenologists have provided essential tools to semiotics. To give just an example: the greimasian semiotics theory refers to the process of meaning formation in terms of perceptual apprehension thanks to his original recovery of Merleau-Ponty’s percept…

Evolution of strategy narration and leadership work in the digital era

2019

This paper examines the evolution of strategy narration, contributing to ongoing discussions in this field. Our empirical data, gathered from a large Finnish co-operative bank, cover three decades. According to our findings, digitalisation has brought about an epoch change in strategy narration, as top management has strongly adopted digital media in their leadership work, which has replaced ‘traditional’ face-to-face strategy meetings and public presentations by gatherings on digital platforms, including webcasting, intranet and Skype. This has brought about a leadership vacuum, and left organisational members long for their superiors to ‘exercise’ some traditional leadership practices, su…

Narrating Selves amid Library Shelves : Literary Mediation and Demediation in S. by J. J. Abrams and Doug Dorst

2019

This essay focuses on the various forms of narrating, mediating, and interpreting selves within and around a book object, the novel S. (2013) by J. J. Abrams and Doug Dorst. The novel S. is an experiment in producing a deceivingly realistic replica of a maltreated library book object, but its discursive practices also rely on familiar literary forms, harking back to epistolary commonplaces, as well as to marginalia, both ancient and modern. The book object S., which carries the text of the novel-within-a-novel, the readers' multilayered markings, and paraphernalia, forms an archive dramatizing the workings of memory, thought, and emotion. That archive also demonstrates how the characters co…
