A Conversational Agent to Support Decisions in SimCity like Games

Computational intelligent techniques applied to economics have played an important role in the last years. In this paper we propose a framework based on an intelligent conversational agent embedded with a decision support system, aimed at suggesting the best managing strategies for a game-based model of a virtual town. The agent tries to prospect the future evolutions of particular choices taken by the user. Interaction is conducted through a natural language interface built as an Alice-based conversational agent.

A sentence based system for measuring syntax complexity using a recurrent deep neural network

In this paper we present a deep neural network model capable of inducing the rules that identify the syntax complexity of an Italian sentence. Our system, beyond the ability of choosing if a sentence needs of simplification, gives a score that represent the confidence of the model during the process of decision making which could be representative of the sentence complexity. Experiments have been carried out on one public corpus created specifically for the problem of text-simplification.

A recurrent deep neural network model to measure sentence complexity for the Italian Language

Text simplification (TS) is a natural language processing task devoted to the modification of a text in such a way that the grammar and structure of the phrases is greatly simplified, preserving the underlying meaning and information contents. In this paper we give a contribution to the TS field presenting a deep neural network model able to detect the complexity of italian sentences. In particular, the system gives a score to an input text that identifies the confidence level during the decision making process and that could be interpreted as a measure of the sentence complexity. Extracting Formal Models from Normative Texts

Normative texts are documents based on the deontic notions of obligation, permission, and prohibition. Our goal is model such texts using the C-O Diagram formalism, making them amenable to formal analysis, in particular verifying that a text satisfies properties concerning causality of actions and timing constraints. We present an experimental, semi-automatic aid to bridge the gap between a normative text and its formal representation. Our approach uses dependency trees combined with our own rules and heuristics for extracting the relevant components. The resulting tabular data can then be converted into a C-O Diagram.

Unambiguous recognizable two-dimensional languages

We consider the family UREC of unambiguous recognizable two-dimensional languages. We prove that there are recognizable languages that are inherently ambiguous, that is UREC family is a proper subclass of REC family. The result is obtained by showing a necessary condition for unambiguous recognizable languages. Further UREC family coincides with the class of picture languages defined by unambiguous 2OTA and it strictly contains its deterministic counterpart. Some closure and non-closure properties of UREC are presented. Finally we show that it is undecidable whether a given tiling system is unambiguous.

Managing conversation uncertainty in TutorJ

Uncertainty in natural language dialogue is often treated through stochastic models. Some of the authors already presented TutorJ mat is an Intelligent Tutoring System, whose interaction with the user is very intensive, and makes use of both dialogic and graphical modality. When managing the interaction, the system needs to cope with uncertainty due to the understanding of the user's needs and wishes. In this paper we present the extended version of TutorJ, focusing on the new features added to its chatbot module. These features allow to merge deterministic and probabilistic reasoning in dialogue management, and in writing the rules of the system's procedural memory.

On the terminology of voice research

Summary This article reviews problems associated with establishment of a scientifically accurate, internationally recognized, multilingual terminology to describe voice. Two strategies for developing terminology are discussed: consensus and dictation. Ontological decisions are considered an integral part of developing terminology. We conclude that terminological problems should be solved by a terminological committee—as yet to be established—as they average from problems in interpreting the literature and the results of voice research.
