This study aimed to evaluate the association of salivary soluble CD14 and dental caries in young children. Purpose – This paper aims to explore the relationships between self-construals, religious identification, and conflict styles in India. Design/methodology/approach – Data were gathered in India (n=1,108) among Hindus (n=744) and Muslims (n=364) in various organizations throughout India. Conflict styles were measured using Oetzel's conflict style measure. Self-construal was measured using Singelis' self-construal measure. Pearson correlations and multiple regressions were conducted. Purpose: To investigate the in vitro dehydration process of conventional hydrogel and silicone-hydrogel contact lens materials. Methods: Eight conventional hydrogel and five silicone-hydrogel contact lenses were dehydrated under controlled environmental conditions on an analytical balance. Birch pollen contains allergens belonging to those with the strongest allergenic properties. In order to trace pollen season patterns of this taxon and pollen annual sums at a wider regional scale, cooperation was established with the University of Latvia in Riga (Latvia). A comparison of the results obtained in the years 2003-2008 in Lublin and in Riga, using volumetric samplers, shows that there was a similar trend in the abundance of birch pollen. The highest sums were noted at both sites in 2003. In all the study years, more birch pollen grains were recorded in Lublin than in Riga, on the average by 7110. Visually induced motion sickness (VIMS) is a well-known phenomenon in virtual environments, simulators, and videogames. We conducted an experiment to analyze the role of sound on the severity of VIMS and the feeling of presence in videogames. Thirty-two subjects first watched a pre-recorded sequence of the game “Mirrors Edge” and then played the game actively. Game-play sound was activated for half of the participants. VIMS was measured via the Simulator Sickness Questionnaire and the Fast Motion Sickness Scale, presence was captured using the Presence Questionnaire. Data gathered administering SCL-90-R (Spanish version) and a scale developed to assess Capacity to Forgive (CAPER) are presented. The study was carried out on a sample of 107 outpatients from Buenos Aires city and its suburban area (64 % women, 36 % men; average age: 36 years old) from a private Mental Health Center. A significant statistical negative correlation (Pearson r) was found between forgiveness and presence of psychopathological symptoms.
