Valence Topological Charge-Transfer Indices for Reflecting Polarity: Correction for Heteromolecules
2005
Valence topological charge-transfer (CT) indices are applied to the calculation of dipole moments mu. The mu calculated by algebraic and vector semisums of the CT indices are defined. The model is generalized for molecules with heteroatoms and corrected for sp(3)-heteromolecules. The ability of the indices for the description of the molecular charge distribution is established by comparing them with mu of the valence-isoelectronic series of cyclopentadiene, benzene and styrene. Two CT indices, mu(vec) (vector semisum of vertex-pair mu) and mu(vec)V (valence mu(vec)) are proposed. The mu(vec) behaviour is intermediate between mu(vec) and mu(experiment). The correction is produced in the corr…
Negativizācijas tendence Latvijas sabiedrībā
2019
Relationship between XPS core binding energies and atomic charge in adducts of SnIV derivatives with pyrazine, and comparison with mössbauer isomer s…
1981
Abstract Adducts Snhal·pyz (hal = Cl, Br, I; pyz = pyrazine), RnSnCl 4−n ·pyz (n = 1, R = Me, Bu n , Oct n , Ph; n = 2, R = Ph) and SnCl 4 ·(pyz) 2 have been investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Binding energy (b.e.) values are discussed in the light of structural characteristics of the adducts as well as of valence state electronegativities of atoms and groups bound to tin. Sn 3d 5 2 b.e.s, corrected for the Madelung potential at the metal atom, linearly correlate with both partial atomic charges on tin, accounting for relaxation upon ionization, and 119 Sn Mossbauer isomer shifts. The results are interpreted in terms of six-coordinated, octahedral type, configurations of the …
Processing of audiovisual associations in the human brain: dependency on expectations and rule complexity
2012
In order to respond to environmental changes appropriately, the human brain must not only be able to detect environmental changes but also to form expectations of forthcoming events. The events in the external environment often have a number of multisensory features such as pitch and form. For integrated percepts of objects and events, crossmodal processing, and crossmodally induced expectations of forthcoming events are needed. The aim of the present study was to determine whether the expectations created by visual stimuli can modulate the deviance detection in the auditory modality, as reflected by auditory event-related potentials (ERPs). Additionally, it was studied whether the complexi…
Do categorical representations modulate early automatic visual processing? A visual mismatch-negativity study.
2021
Perceptual categorization is an important cognitive function. In the auditory domain, categorization already occurs within the first 200 ms of information processing, as indexed by the mismatch negativity. Here, we assessed the characteristics of the visual mismatch negativity (vMMN) elicited during the categorization of previously unknown visual stimuli. To examine this, we used five-dot patterns with characteristics that allow for the formation of categories through rotation and reflection but not through other physical properties. To assess whether or not between-category and within-category vMMN differ in amplitude, the data was analyzed with the Bayesian approach. We observed that both…

A study of Wigner functions for discrete-time quantum walks
2013
We perform a systematic study of the discrete time Quantum Walk on one dimension using Wigner functions, which are generalized to include the chirality (or coin) degree of freedom. In particular, we analyze the evolution of the negative volume in phase space, as a function of time, for different initial states. This negativity can be used to quantify the degree of departure of the system from a classical state. We also relate this quantity to the entanglement between the coin and walker subspaces.
Preattentive detection of rare audiovisual feature conjunctions by the human brain as reflected by the mismatch negativity

Online Hate Does Not Stay Online – How Implicit and Explicit Attitudes Mediate the Effect of Civil Negativity and Hate in User Comments on Prosocial …
2020
Abstract Incivility and hateful language in user comments are met with growing concern among politicians, the general public, and scholars. There are fears that such comments may decrease social cohesion and ultimately result in less prosocial behavior among citizens. We investigate whether hate, or even civil negativity in user comments alone, inhibit actual prosocial behavior through recipients’ explicit and implicit attitudes. In an online experiment, 253 participants read user comments (neutral, civil-negative, hateful) about refugees and received five Euros which they could donate for a refugee aid organization or keep for themselves. The results show that participants confronted with …
The relationship between internalized homonegativity and body image concerns in sexual minority men: a meta-analysis
2018
It remains unclear whether internalised homonegativity, a recognised predictor of internalising mental health problems, is related to body dissatisfaction in sexual minority men. We conducted a met...
