Abstract A new nematode species, Raphidascaris ( Raphidascaris ) macrouri n. sp. (Anisakidae), is described from male and female specimens found in the intestine, and occasionally in stomach and pyloric caeca, of two deep-water macrourid fishes (Gadiformes) off Barcelona, Mediterranean Sea: Nezumia aequalis (Gunther) (type-host) and Trachyrincus scabrus (Rafinesque). Trichuris trichiura is a nematode considered as the whipworm present in humans and primates. The systematics of the genus Trichuris is complex. Morphological studies of Trichuris isolated from primates and humans conclude that the species infecting these hosts is the same. First Record of the Nematode Physaloptera squamatae in the Helminth Community of the Introduced Anole Anolis grahami (Polychrotidae) on Bermuda

The gastrointestinal helminth communities of five populations of Anolis grahami, an introduced anole on Bermuda, were surveyed to determine the prevalence, abundance, and species diversity of parasites in these reptiles. Only three nematode species were found, Atractis scelopori, Parapharyngodon cubensis, and Physaloptera squamatae. This species, P. squamatae, is recorded for the first time in Anolis grahami on Bermuda, probably introduced through its arthropod intermediate host. The role of the host A. grahami as a “spillover” agent for these parasites is discussed.
Biodiversity of nematofauna associated with the rice field agro-ecosystem in north Italy

This research is intended to give an idea on the soil biodiversity associated with the rice field agro-ecosystem. The research was carried out in two areas of North Italy where Oryza sativa is a traditional crop. The nematodes were extracted from soil samples and from the rhizosphere of rice plants. The nematode community was investigated for the genus composition, trophic structure and biodiversity. 22 families and 45 different genera were recorded. The dominant trophic group was the bacteriophagous with the genus Rhabditis. Other important genera were Pratylenchus, Helicotylenchus and Acrobeloides. Detailed morphological study of several males, mature and, above all, immature females from the stomach of the lesser mouse-eared batMyotis blythii (Tomes) (Chiroptera: Vespertilionidae) in Spain, has elucidated many new morphological characters. (Nematoda: Strongyloididae), an cloacal parasite of Rana perezi Seoane, 1885 in the east of Iberian Peninsula (Spain). The new species is charac-terized for its large length of the oesophagus, the morphology of its stoma and the moderate spiralation of the ovaries of the female parasite.
