Behaviour of Extractives in Norway Spruce (Picea abies) Bark during Pile Storage

The current practices regarding the procurement chain of forest industry sidestreams, such as conifer bark, do not always lead to optimal conditions for preserving individual chemical compounds. This study investigates the standard way of storing bark in large piles in an open area. We mainly focus on the degradation of the most essential hydrophilic and hydrophobic extractives and carbohydrates. First, two large 450 m3 piles of bark from Norway spruce (Picea abies) were formed, one of which was covered with snow. The degradation of the bark extractives was monitored for 24 weeks. Unstable thin film spreading of volatile binary mixtures

This Thesis discusses the fluid mechanics of thin films, with emphasis on dynamical instabilities observed in some situations. The theoretical part first presents the main theory of thin-film flow, and then advances to discuss the problems associated with incorporation of evaporative effects and binary mixtures in the model. In the experimental part, measurements related to spreading of certain class of binary mixtures are presented. This study aims to elucidate how modern presentation technology is being used by Norwegian Christian congregations. It is based on a survey answered by 715 church leaders, and the practice revealed is discussed particularly on the basis of Eileen D. Crowley's framework for ‘liturgical media art’. The findings show that presentation technology is used to a significant extent, but mainly as practical, visual support for communication. The article argues that there is a potential to use technology for aesthetic purposes as well.
On-chip purification of arc-discharge synthesized multiwalled carbon nanotubes via mobile liquid interface

This thesis reports a novel approach for purification of carbon nanotube (CNT) samples deposited on smooth silicon substrates through a mobile liquid interface interacting with carbonaceous debris particles that contaminate the deposition. The method is based on physical interaction of the particles and the three-phase contact line via capillary interface forces, i.e. the surface tension, which results in the detachment of chemically indispersible colloids from the sample surface. Se exponen la utilidad de la yatrosedación y de la sedación farmacológica para el tratamiento odontológico en el paciente anciano, su aplicación es necesaria debido a la mayor prevalencia de patología oral, peor tolerancia al estrés y a la asociación frecuente con patología sistémica. Se describen las vías de administración de psicofármacos más indicada según la patología asociada y a la interrelación farmacológica más frecuente con su patología de base.
