Effect of Software on CSP Performance

2009

In order to verify how (if at all) CSP's investments in software affect their business performance, the relationship between (i) CSP's spending on software and (ii) its key performance indicators (KPIs) is considered below. The investments in software are represented by internal, external, and total software spending a year or two years prior to the KPI values, while the KPIs include average revenue per user (ARPU), revenue, net income, EBIDTA, and change in revenue (as an indicator of company growth). Besides, Opex and Capex along with R&D expenses are used as control variables. We use the data collected for the years 2004–2007 (revenue, net income, EBITDA, market capitalization, R&D, CAPE…

Analysing farming systems with Data Envelopment Analysis: citrus farming in Spain

2004

Abstract Farming systems in the Mediterranean agricultural areas of Spain are frequently characterised by the small size of the production units and a widespread strategy of externalisation of many growing tasks which could be seen as a way of allowing farms to remain competitive. In this paper, we suggest Data Envelopment Analysis as an appropriate analytical tool to explore the possibilities of short-term viability of individual farms, after eliminating current inefficient practices. From a sample of Spanish citrus farms, we identify the efficient production units that determine the technological or best practice frontier, and we compare their characteristics with those of the average far…

Measuring Firm Performance: Testing a Proposed Model

2018

Abstract Firm performance is a very complex and exhaustive concept. It can be related to many factors: starting with variables from balance sheet, income statement or cash-flow statement, continuing with research and development expenses or IT competences, and last but not least with intangible assets like human capital, goodwill, or brand value. The purpose of the present paper is to develop and test a model in order to measure firm performance by considering US companies that are ranked into the Global Fortune 500. In this study we used control variables (assets growth rate, net income growth rate and revenue growth rate) and depended variables – return on assets (ROA), debt to equity, re…

The joint emergence of group competition and within-group cooperation

2015

Abstract Between-group conflict and within-group cooperation can be seen as two sides of the same coin, coevolving in a group-structured population. There is strong support for between-group competition facilitating the evolution of human cooperative tendencies, yet our understanding of how competition arises is less clear. We show that groups of randomly assembled individuals spontaneously engage in costly group competition, and that decisions promoting between-group conflict are associated with high levels of within-group cooperation. Remarkably, when groups were given the possibility to compete against other groups, net earnings for individuals were higher than when groups were not allow…

Analysis of Relationship between Net Wage and Consumer Price Index

2013

Abstract In the present paper is presented an econometric analysis of the relationship between net salary and consumer price index. After a brief historical overview will be review the calculating statistics for selected variables and coefficients and will be presented the obtained values. We will study the relationship between variables. It will be realized the cloud of points and will be applied Fisher test. The intensity of selected variables will be study too and some forms of relationship between the two chose variables will be done. Student test is applied. It will be performed the parameter estimation for regression functions and Akaike's criterion will be applied. The homoscedastici…
