Status of Advanced Virgo
2017
The LIGO and the Virgo collaborations have recently announced the first detections of Gravitational Waves. Due to their weak amplitude, Gravitational Waves are expected to produce a very small effect on free-falling masses, which undergo a displacement of the order of 10-18 m for a Km-scale mutual distance. This discovery showed that interferometric detectors are suitable to reveal such a feeble effect, and therefore represent a new tool for astronomy, astrophysics and cosmology in the understanding of the Universe. To better reconstruct the position of the Gravitational Wave source and increase the signal-to-noise ratio of the events by means of multiple coincidence, a network of detectors…

Reversive constructions in Latin: the case of re- (and dis-)
2019
This paper proposes a cognitive account on re- and dis- verbs based on the scrutiny of the Plautine corpus and Cato’s De agricultura. Re- and dis- exhibit significant differences as to the manner in which they come to a reversive function, and these differences can be traced back to the basic conceptual import of the two prefixes: while dis- is schematically connected with the idea of separation into two parts, re- basically refers to a rearward/reditive trajectory, connecting a point that has already been reached to the starting point. On the basis of this description, I analyze the semantic network of re- and dis- and the role of their conceptual structure in the spread from spatial to re…
Creating Shared Value: Exploration in an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem
2022
The effects of companies on society and the practices of Corporate Social Responsibility have been the source of interest for many research studies. Questions concerning the traditional model resulted in Porter and Kramer developing the concept of Creating Shared Value, an approach where companies consider the value of society and the environment in their business models, creating value for all stakeholders. We take the issue of shared value creation in an entrepreneurial ecosystem to determine how clustered companies understand and create shared value, identifying its antecedents and consequences. Using a single case study, we were able to identify that the entrepreneurial ecosystem become…
Effects of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation on Brain Networks Related to Creative Thinking
2020
AbstractHuman creative thinking is unique and capable of generating novel and valuable ideas. Recent research has clarified the contribution of different brain networks (default mode network, DN; executive control network; salience network) to creative thinking. However, the effects of brain stimulation on brain networks during creative thinking and on creative performance have not been clarified. The present study was designed to examine the changes in functional connectivity (FC) and effective connectivity (EC) of the large-scale brain network, and the ensuing changes in creative performance, induced by transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS). Fourteen healthy male students underwe…
Scienze sociali computazionali e fenomeni criminali: una ricognizione
2016

How do different network positions affect crowd members' success in crowdsourcing challenges?
2023
In the crowdsourcing challenges, crowd members can interact with each other by, for example, chatting, exchanging feedback, providing advice, discussing, and commenting on ideas. These social interactions shape a network structure, which is a set of social relationships developed by crowd members. This study aims at investigating how occupying diverse network positions within a crowdsourcing challenge network increases the members' likelihood to succeed in a competition. Leveraging prior literature on social networks and crowdsourcing research, we theorize how central and structural hole network positions influence the crowd members' likelihood of winning crowdsourcing challenges by leverag…
Crystal structure of bis(2-aminoanilinium) hydrogen phosphate
2016
In the title compound, the hydrogen phosphate anions are linked by O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds into chains parallel to [100]. The inorganic anionic chains and the organic cations are linked by N—H⋯O and N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional supramolecular network extending parallel to (001).
Synthesis, characterization and self-assembly of three dicyanamide bridged polynuclear copper(II) complexes with N2O donor tridentate Schiff bases as…
2016
Three copper(II) complexes [Cu(L1)(μ1,5-dca)]n (1), [Cu(L2)(μ1,5-dca)]n (2) and [Cu(L3)(μ1,5-dca)]n (3) [where HL1 = (1-(2-(dimethylamino)ethylimino)ethyl) naphthalene-1-ol, HL2 = (1-(2-(methylamino)ethylimino)ethyl) naphthalene-1-ol and HL3 = (1-(2-(ethylamino)ethylimino)ethyl)naphthalene-1-ol] have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR and UV–Vis spectroscopy. The structure of each complex has been confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. In all three complexes, copper(II) centres are bridged by dicyanamide in end to end fashion. Complexes 1 and 2 are zigzag polymers, whereas complex 3 is a helical one. The weak forces like C–H⋯π and π⋯π interactions i…
