High-overtone bulk acoustic resonator as passive ground penetrating RADAR cooperative targets

2013

International audience; RAdio-frequency Detection And Ranging instruments—RADARs—are widely used for applications aimed at measuring passive target velocity or ranging for various metrology applications such as ground position and localization. Within the context of using piezoelectric acoustic passive sensors as cooperative targets to RADARs probed through a radiofrequency link, this paper reports on investigating the compatibility of narrowband resonator architectures with the classical operation mode of wideband RADAR instruments. Since single mode resonators are hardly compatible due to the limited bandwidth of their spectrum, the investigation has been extended to High-overtone Bulk Ac…

Study of the D*ρ system using QCD sum rules

2013

In this talk I present a study of the $D^* \rho$ system made by using the method of QCD sum rules. Considering isospin and spin projectors, we investigate the different configurations and obtain three $D^*$ mesons with isospin $I=1/2$, spin $S=0$, $1$, $2$ and with masses $2500\pm 67$ MeV, $2523\pm60$ MeV, and $2439\pm119$ MeV, respectively. The last state can be related to $D^*_2(2460)$ (spin 2) listed by the Particle Data Group, while one of the first two might be associated with $D^*(2640)$, whose spin-parity is unknown. In the case of $I=3/2$ we also find evidences of three states with spin 0, 1 and 2, respectively, with masses $2467\pm82$ MeV, $2420\pm128$ MeV, and $2550\pm56$ MeV.

Constructive role of non-adiabaticity for quantized charge pumping

2010

We investigate a recently developed scheme for quantized charge pumping based on single-parameter modulation. The device was realized in an AlGaAl-GaAs gated nanowire. It has been shown theoretically that non-adiabaticity is fundamentally required to realize single-parameter pumping, while in previous multi-parameter pumping schemes it caused unwanted and less controllable currents. In this paper we demonstrate experimentally the constructive and destructive role of non-adiabaticity by analysing the pumping current over a broad frequency range.

The Wigner Distribution of Sum-of-Cissoids and Sum-of-Chirps Processes for the Modelling of Stationary and Non-Stationary Mobile Channels

2016

This paper concerns the time-frequency analysis of stationary and non-stationary multipath flat fading channels. For the modelling of stationary multipath fading channels, we use a sum-of-cisoids (SOCi) process, while the non-stationary channel is modelled by a sum-of-chirps (SOCh) process that captures the time-variant Doppler effect caused by speed variations of the mobile station. For the time-frequency analysis, we apply the concept of the Wigner distribution. Closed-form solutions are provided for the Wigner distribution of SOCi and SOCh processes. It is shown that the obtained Wigner distributions can be expressed by the sum of an auto-term representing the true Doppler power spectral…

Contour detection based on nonlinear discrete diffusion in a cellular nonlinear network

2001

International audience; A contour detection based on a diffusive cellular nonlinear network is proposed. It is shown that there exists a particular nonlinear function for which, numerically, the obtained contour is satisfactory. Furthermore, this nonlinear function can be achieved using analog components.

A Non-Stationary Mobile-to-Mobile Channel Model Allowing for Velocity and Trajectory Variations of the Mobile Stations

2017

In mobile-to-mobile (M2M) communication systems, both the transmitter and the receiver are moving with a certain velocity, which is usually assumed to be constant over time. However, in realistic propagation scenarios, the velocity of the mobile stations (MSs) is subject to changes resulting in a non-stationary fading process. In this paper, we develop a non-stationary narrow-band M2M multipath fading channel model, where the transmitter and the receiver experience changes in their velocities and trajectories. For this model, we derive expressions for the local autocorrelation function (ACF), the Wigner-Ville spectrum, the local average Doppler shift, and the local Doppler spread under isot…

Moderate-to-Strong Turbulence Generation in a Laboratory Indoor Free Space Optics Link and Error Mitigation via RaptorQ Codes

2016

Free Space Optics (FSO) is rapidly gaining interest as a line-of sight communication technology that offers capabilities similar - in terms of bandwidth and transfer rates - to optical fibre, also possessing several advantages compared with traditional radio frequency links. However, FSO link quality can be strongly affected by unfavourable weather conditions and also by the phenomenon of optical turbulence, even in clear sky. In this work, we have implemented an indoor FSO link and generated moderate-to-strong turbulence conditions along the optical path by using heaters and a mechanical ventilation system. In this way, we have been able to investigate the effects of the generated turbulen…

Implementation of a two stage fully-blind self-adapted spectrum sensing algorithm

2017

In this paper, an experimental validation of a combined two-stage detector called 2EMC is carried out. The detector is proposed in [1]. The 2EMC is composed of energy detector as a primary stage and maximum-minimum eigenvalue detector as a secondary stage. The 2EMC outperforms the two individual detectors in terms of the probability of detection for the same probability of false alarm. Regarding the complexity measured in the sensing time, the 2EMC sensing time is bounded by the sensing times of the two individual detectors. 2EMC incorporates noise estimation that is used by the energy detector, which makes it fully-blind and self-adapted detector. The noise estimator performance is express…

Exploring Training Options for RF Sensing Using CSI

2018

This work analyzes human behavior recognition approaches using WiFi channel state information from the perhaps less usual point of view of training and calibration needs. With the help of selected literature examples, as well as with more detailed experimental insights on our own Doppler spectrum-based approach for physical motion/presence/cardinality detection, we first classify the diverse forms of training so far employed into three main categories (trained, trained-once, and training-free). We further discuss under which conditions it is possible to move toward lighter forms of calibration or even succeed in devising fully untrained model-based solutions. Our take home messages are main…

Non-separable local polynomial regression cell-average multiresolution operators. Application to compression of images

2016

Abstract Cell-average multiresolution Harten׳s algorithms have been satisfactorily used to compress data. These schemes are based on two operators: decimation and prediction. The accuracy of the method depends on the prediction operator. In order to design a precise function, local polynomial regression has been used in the last years. This paper is devoted to construct a family of non-separable two-dimensional linear prediction operators approximating the real values with this procedure. Some properties are proved as the order of the scheme and the stability. Some numerical experiments are performed comparing the new methods with the classical linear method.
