In 2003 and 2004, in the month of July, Culotta was invited, first among the various Palermitan teachers who subsequently took part in this experience, to hold one of the intensive workshop courses in Architectural Composition at the IUAV. The activity of the workshops as a fundamental preparatory experience of the three-year degree course in Architecture Sciences constituted a didactic innovation of strong experimental value, being a compact themed laboratory, carried out entirely in the classroom. Based on recent studies on materiality, picturebook research, and cognitive studies, this paper investigates how children may perceive picturebooks as objects and their material properties. In this regard, we emphasise three dimensions of picturebooks as objects and relate them to developmental stages. The first dimension concerns the materials the picturebooks are composed of, such as paper, cardboard, wood, plastics, and cloth. The second dimension refers to the type of book, e.g. hardbacks, sets of cardboard sheets, fanfold books, pop-up books, and even hybrid objects such as books which are toys at the same time. Protection of Personal Data and Human Rights between the ECHR and the EU Legal Order

The present paper deals with the relationship between privacy and data protection, having regard to the European Union and the European Convention of Human Rights. Such an analysis moves from the normative context (art. 8 ECHR and art. 7 and 8 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union). Moreover, the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union and of the European Court of Human RIghts is taken into account, in order to enlighten the dfferent scopes of privacy and data protection.

Phytochemical profile and insecticidal activity of Drimia pancration (Asparagaceae) against adults of Stegobium paniceum (Anobiidae)

Chemical and spectroscopic investigation of the bulbs of Drimia pancration resulted in the isolation of one known flavonol (1), never isolated from this plant species, and of three previously described steroidal saponins (2–4), but whose configuration at their stereogenic centres was not clearly determined. By mean of 1H NMR, 13C NMR, nuclear overhauser effects (NOE) and two-dimensional NMR spectra the full stereochemical structures of compounds 2–4 were proved and all the 1H and 13C signals were assigned. The inauguration of the Nice Museum of Modem and Conteporary Art in 1990, Philippe Poirrier. On 8 April 1990, the Franco-American sculptor Annan refused to inaugurate the retrospective of his work at the new Modem and Contemporary Art Museum of Nice in company of Jacques Médecin, mayor of Nice. The reason was the mayor's complecency vis-à-vis the National Front's theses. The incident originated a local and then a national affair that in which the artists, the elected officials of the Côte d'Azur and the minister of Culture, Jack Lang, were involved. The debate clearly illustrates some of the political stakes involved in cultural policies in France.
Testing of “Global Young's Modulus E” on a rehabilitated masonry bell tower in Venice

Abstract This paper shows the effectiveness of the techniques chosen for the rehabilitation of the historic “Sant'Andrea” masonry bell-tower in Venice. The achieved rehabilitation projects based on the indenting technique consisting in removing and replacing bricks in bad conditions, and on the isolation of the bells at the belfry quote, respect all the constraints represented by the aesthetic and structural features of the building. Moreover, the experimental analyses used to define the existing state of the structure are described in detail.
