Nanosensor for Sensitive Detection of the New Psychedelic Drug 25I-NBOMe.
2020
[EN] This work reports the synthesis, characterization, and sensing behavior of a hybrid nanodevice for the detection of the potent abuse drug 25I-NBOMe. The system is based on mesoporous silica nanoparticles, loaded with a fluorescent dye, functionalized with a serotonin derivative and capped with the 5-HT2A receptor antibody. In the presence of 25I-NBOMe the capping antibody is displaced, leading to pore opening and rhodamine B release. This delivery was ascribed to 5-HT2A receptor antibody detachment from the surface due to its stronger coordination with 25I-NBOMe present in the solution. The prepared nanodevice allowed the sensitive (limit of detection of 0.6 mm) and selective recogniti…
Branch-and-Cut-and-Price for the Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows and Convex Node Costs
2019
Two critical yet frequently conflicting objectives for logistics and transportation service companies are improving customer satisfaction and reducing transportation cost. In particular, given a network of customer requests with preferred service times, it is very challenging to find vehicle routes and service schedules simultaneously that respect all operating constraints and minimize the total transportation and customers’ inconvenience costs. In this paper, we introduce the vehicle routing problem with time windows and convex node costs (VRPTW-CNC), in which we model each customer’s inconvenience cost as a convex function of the service start time at that customer. The VRPTW-CNC combine…
Revenue-Aware Resource Allocation in the Future Multi-Service IP Networks
2006
In the future IP networks, a wide range of different service classes must be supported in a network node and different classes of customers will pay different prices for their used node resources based on their Service-Level-Agreements. In this paper, we link the resource allocation issue with pricing strategies and explore the problem of maximizing the revenue of service providers in a network node by optimally allocating a given amount of node resources among multiple service classes. Under the linear pricing strategy, the optimal resource allocation scheme is derived for the case that no firm Quality-of-Service (QoS) guarantees are required for all service classes, which can achieve the …
EFFECT OF FRUIT-SET TIME ON THE QUALITY PERFORMANCE OF ANNONA CHERIMOLA MILL. FRUIT
2019
The aim of this work was to analyze the differences between fruits obtained by different dates of fruit set and identify the proper fruit-set time that allows to obtain the optimum fruit quality in Annona cherimola cv Fino de Jete, planted in Southern Italy. Six fruit-set dates were selected from the first week of June to the second week of July. Fruits were sampled from October to November, when 1500 Growing Degree Days (DD) were accumulated; The DD were calculated using a base temperature of 12 °C. Fruit fresh weight (FW) and skin colour were measured. These parameters were measured also after storage, and in addition, the following parameters were measured: fruit shape (FS), pulp colour,…
Two cases of gynandromorphs in Orthoptera Tettigoniidae (Insecta).
2010
The author reports the gynandromorphs of two small species of Tettigoniidae, Leptophyes punctatissima (Bosc, 1792) collected in Corsica and Ctenodecticus siculus (Ramme, 1927) collected in Sicily, and describe their morphological and biometrical characteristics.

Sine cura.
Restoration of Vertical Line Scratches with a Distributed Genetic Algorithm
2006
This contribution approaches the problem of scratch restoration in old movies as a optimisation's problem. The functional based on the statistical properties of the image around the scratch is optimised using an ad-hoc genetic algorithm. Given the large amount of the computational time needed by genetic algorithms, a network of standard workstations with heterogeneous operating systems has been used. Each workstation in the network works on each scratch to perform the restoration, and a specific machine works as root node with the task of distributing jobs on the network and adding the outputted restored scratches back into the image.
