Coupled common fixed point theorems in partially ordered G-metric spaces for nonlinear contractions
2014
The aim of this paper is to prove coupled coincidence and coupled common fixed point theorems for a mixed $g$-monotone mapping satisfying nonlinear contractive conditions in the setting of partially ordered $G$-metric spaces. Present theorems are true generalizations of the recent results of Choudhury and Maity [Math. Comput. Modelling 54 (2011), 73-79], and Luong and Thuan [Math. Comput. Modelling 55 (2012) 1601-1609].
Nonexistence of global weak solutions for a nonlinear Schrodinger equation in an exterior domain
2020
We study the large-time behavior of solutions to the nonlinear exterior problem L u ( t , x ) = &kappa
A C0-Semigroup of Ulam Unstable Operators
2020
The Ulam stability of the composition of two Ulam stable operators has been investigated by several authors. Composition of operators is a key concept when speaking about C0-semigroups. Examples of C0-semigroups formed with Ulam stable operators are known. In this paper, we construct a C0-semigroup (Rt)t&ge
Ulam Stability for the Composition of Operators
2020
Working in the setting of Banach spaces, we give a simpler proof of a result concerning the Ulam stability of the composition of operators. Several applications are provided. Then, we give an example of a discrete semigroup with Ulam unstable members and an example of Ulam stable operators on a Banach space, such that their sum is not Ulam stable. Another example is concerned with a C 0 -semigroup ( T t ) t &ge
Positive solutions for the Neumann p-Laplacian
2017
We examine parametric nonlinear Neumann problems driven by the p-Laplacian with asymptotically ( $$p-1$$ )-linear reaction term f(z, x) (as $$x\rightarrow +\infty $$ ). We determine the existence, nonexistence and minimality of positive solutions as the parameter $$\lambda >0$$ varies.
Equivalence of viscosity and weak solutions for the $p(x)$-Laplacian
2010
We consider different notions of solutions to the $p(x)$-Laplace equation $-\div(\abs{Du(x)}^{p(x)-2}Du(x))=0$ with $ 1<p(x)<\infty$. We show by proving a comparison principle that viscosity supersolutions and $p(x)$-superharmonic functions of nonlinear potential theory coincide. This implies that weak and viscosity solutions are the same class of functions, and that viscosity solutions to Dirichlet problems are unique. As an application, we prove a Rad\'o type removability theorem.
The annular decay property and capacity estimates for thin annuli
2016
We obtain upper and lower bounds for the nonlinear variational capacity of thin annuli in weighted $\mathbf{R}^n$ and in metric spaces, primarily under the assumptions of an annular decay property and a Poincar\'e inequality. In particular, if the measure has the $1$-annular decay property at $x_0$ and the metric space supports a pointwise $1$-Poincar\'e inequality at $x_0$, then the upper and lower bounds are comparable and we get a two-sided estimate for thin annuli centred at $x_0$, which generalizes the known estimate for the usual variational capacity in unweighted $\mathbf{R}^n$. Most of our estimates are sharp, which we show by supplying several key counterexamples. We also character…
P-spaces and the Volterra property
2012
We study the relationship between generalizations of $P$-spaces and Volterra (weakly Volterra) spaces, that is, spaces where every two dense $G_\delta$ have dense (non-empty) intersection. In particular, we prove that every dense and every open, but not every closed subspace of an almost $P$-space is Volterra and that there are Tychonoff non-weakly Volterra weak $P$-spaces. These results should be compared with the fact that every $P$-space is hereditarily Volterra. As a byproduct we obtain an example of a hereditarily Volterra space and a hereditarily Baire space whose product is not weakly Volterra. We also show an example of a Hausdorff space which contains a non-weakly Volterra subspace…
Intertwining operators for non-self-adjoint hamiltonians and bicoherent states
2016
This paper is devoted to the construction of what we will call {\em exactly solvable models}, i.e. of quantum mechanical systems described by an Hamiltonian $H$ whose eigenvalues and eigenvectors can be explicitly constructed out of some {\em minimal ingredients}. In particular, motivated by PT-quantum mechanics, we will not insist on any self-adjointness feature of the Hamiltonians considered in our construction. We also introduce the so-called bicoherent states, we analyze some of their properties and we show how they can be used for quantizing a system. Some examples, both in finite and in infinite-dimensional Hilbert spaces, are discussed.
Non-self-adjoint hamiltonians defined by Riesz bases
2014
We discuss some features of non-self-adjoint Hamiltonians with real discrete simple spectrum under the assumption that the eigenvectors form a Riesz basis of Hilbert space. Among other things, {we give conditions under which these Hamiltonians} can be factorized in terms of generalized lowering and raising operators.
