Nonunion and malunion in proximal humerus fractures

2020

Proximal humerus fractures are common injuries and the development of nonunion or malunion is infrequent. However, these complications can occur with both operative and non-operative treatment of the fracture. A complete evaluation of these patients must include an investigation of the original fracture, bone and soft tissue quality as well as an extensive radiological study with X-Ray, CT and MRI. Asymptomatic and low demanding patients can benefit from conservative treatment, otherwise surgery is necessary. Multiple treatment options exist with no consensus upon the gold standard. The management of these complications is case-specific and needs extensive pre-operative planning. Arthroscop…

Dynamic Gait Parameters in Patients With Nonunion of the Tibia Following Treatment With the Ilizarov Method.

2020

Abstract The purpose of this study was a comprehensive assessment of the dynamic parameters of gait in patients who underwent Ilizarov treatment for nonunion of the tibia. The experimental group consisted of 24 individuals treated with the Ilizarov method for nonunion of the tibia. The control group comprised 31 healthy individuals, matched for BMI, sex, and age. The dynamic gait parameters in patients and in the control group were measured with a Zebris pedobarographic platform. The treatment group and the control group showed statistically significant differences in terms of the following gait parameters: maximum force during braking nonoperated-limb (NOL), time maximum force during braki…

2013

Nonunion is an important complication of carpal navicular fractures. The aim of this study is to report the medium term results of a reconstruction technique with cannulated screw combined with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) in Herbert fractures C (late consolidation), D1 (fibrous union without deformity) and D2 (pseudarthrosis with initial deformity).

Complicanze delle fatture dello scafoide carpale

2016
