Cervico-Oculo-Acusticus (Wildervanck's) syndrome: a clinical variant of Klippel-Feil sequence?
1990
A 7-year-old female child with phenotype of Cervico-Oculo-Acousticus (Wildervanck's) syndrome is presented. In addition to fusion of multiple cervical vertebrae with short neck, abducens nerve palsy and deafness, the child showed severe growth and bone delay, renal abnormalities and slight mental retardation. The presence of such malformations seems to suggest that Wildervanck's syndrome is a clinical variant of Klippel-Feil sequence. Both conditions usually have sporadic occurrence with female prevalence, more consistent for cervico-oculo-acousticus syndrome. The possibility of dominant inheritance has been postulated for both, autosomal for Klippel-Feil, autosomal or X-linked with lethali…

Content Variation of Iron and Copper in Wine Obtained from Wine Vineyards Recas
2013
Abstract Wine grapes are brought to the center in baskets, plastic containers, wooden bene, or more modern like metal bene. From picking and transport can be transmitted to grapes, the iron or copper from all equipment on metal and after will be transmitted also to wines produced. It must therefore control of how was made the insulation of protective metal bene to avoid contact the metal with grapes. The aim of this work involves evaluating the content of iron and copper in wines and vineyards of Recas. The results indicated that the values determined by methods Photocolorimeters were within normal limits and revealed that the level of iron and copper in samples analyzed were not influenced…
Modified Gaussian models applied to the description and deconvolution of peaks in chiral liquid chromatography.
2020
Abstract The description of the profiles of chromatographic peaks has been studied extensively, with a large number of proposed mathematical functions. Among them, the accuracy achieved with modified Gaussian models that describe the deviation of an ideal Gaussian peak as a change in the peak variance or standard deviation over time, has been highlighted. These models are, in fact, a family of functions of different complexity with great flexibility to adjust chromatographic peaks over a wide range of asymmetries and shapes. However, an uncontrolled behaviour of the signal may occur outside the region being fitted, forcing the use of different strategies to overcome this problem. In this wo…
Extension of the linear solvent strength retention model including a parameter that describes the elution strength changes in liquid chromatography.
2020
Modelling the retention behaviour of solutes in liquid chromatography, based on the composition of the mobile phase is a common task in the chromatographic practice. Along the development of liquid chromatography (LC), several models have been proposed to help in understanding the retention mechanisms, and especially, allow the prediction of retention times with optimisation purposes. Particular models are used for different LC modes, such as normal phase (NPLC), reversed phase (RPLC), hydrophilic interaction (HILIC), and micellar (MLC). In this work, a general equation is proposed that includes a parameter (the elution degree, g), which characterises the way the elution strength varies wit…
Exact 3D solution for static and damped harmonic response of simply supported general laminates
2014
International audience; The state-space method is adapted to obtain three dimensional exact solutions for the static and damped dynamic behaviors of simply supported general laminates. The state-space method is written in a general form that permits to handle both cross-ply and antisymmetric angle-ply laminates. This general form also permits to obtain exact solutions for general laminates, albeit with some constraints. For the general case and for the static behavior, either an additive term is added to the load to simulate simply supported boundary conditions, or the plate bends in a particular way. For the dynamic behavior, the general case leads to pairs of natural frequencies for each …
Spectral and temperature sensitivity of area de-coupled tandem modules
2015
- Area de-coupling is a recently suggested method for current- or voltage-matching two-terminal tandem modules. It has previously been shown that under standard conditions, area de-coupled modules have the same theoretical efficiency as four-terminal tandem cells for any combinations of band gaps. In this work, the spectral and temperature sensitivity of ideal area de-coupled modules is investigated by detailed balance modeling. Voltage-matched area de-coupled modules are found to be considerably less sensitive to changes in the spectrum than current-matched modules. Current-matched modules are, on the other hand, found to be less sensitive to changes in the temperature. Under normal condit…
Polynomial Spline-Wavelets
2015
This chapter presents wavelets in the spaces of polynomial splines. The wavelets’ design is based on the Zak transform, which provides an integral representation of spline-wavelets. The exponential wavelets which participate in the integral representation are counterparts of the exponential splines that were introduced in Chap. 4. Fast algorithms for the wavelet transforms of splines are presented. Generators of spline-wavelet spaces are described, such as the B-wavelets and their duals and the Battle-Lemarie wavelets whose shifts form orthonormal bases of the spline-wavelet spaces.
Extending CSG with projections: Towards formally certified geometric modeling
2015
We extend traditional Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG) trees to support the projection operator. Existing algorithms in the literature prove various topological properties of CSG sets. Our extension readily allows these algorithms to work on a greater variety of sets, in particular parametric sets, which are extensively used in CAD/CAM systems. Constructive Solid Geometry allows for algebraic representation which makes it easy for certification tools to apply. A geometric primitive may be defined in terms of a characteristic function, which can be seen as the zero-set of a corresponding system along with inequality constraints. To handle projections, we exploit the Disjunctive Normal Form,…
Predictive Chaos Control for the 1D-map of Action Potential Duration
2016
International audience; In the present work, a nonlinear control method namely predictive controlis investigated. The proposed method allows stabilizing unstable period-1 rhythm.Using mathematical analysis and computer simulations, we show that this methodcan be used to control chaotic behavior or pathological rhythms. As example, theresults are illustrated in the case of the 1D-map action potential duration (APDi+1)which modelizes the cardiac action potential duration as the function of the previousone (APDi).
