Spectroscopic analysis of vibronic relaxation pathways in molecular spin qubit [Ho(W5O18)2]9−: sparse spectra are key

2021

Molecular vibrations play a key role in magnetic relaxation processes of molecular spin qubits as they couple to spin states, leading to the loss of quantum information. Direct experimental determination of vibronic coupling is crucial to understand and control the spin dynamics of these nano-objects, which represent the limit of miniaturization for quantum devices. Herein, we measure the vibrational properties of the molecular spin qubit $[$Ho(W$_5$O$_{18}$)$_2]^{9-}$ by means of magneto-infrared spectroscopy. Our results allow us to unravel the vibrational decoherence pathways in combination with $ab$ $initio$ calculations including vibronic coupling. We observe field-induced spectral cha…

We present the design, fabrication and characterization of long-range surface plasmon polariton waveguide arrays with materials, mainly silicones, carefully selected with the aim to be used as mechanically flexible single-mode optical interconnections, the so-called “plasmonic arc” working at 1.55µm. The fabricated plasmonic arcs show a TM/TE polarization ratio of ~25 dB. By using the cut-back method, the straight propagation loss at 1.55µm is estimated to 0.5-1 dB/mm and coupling loss to ~1-2 dB/facet after dicing. In the free-standing S-curved configuration, the bending loss of single cladding plasmonic arc is 2.2-2.8 dB/90° at bending radius 2.5 mm. For double cladding plasmonic arcs, it…

Fine tuning of the magnetic properties in Mn3-Co Ga Heusler films near the critical regime

2021

Abstract Tunability of structural and magnetic properties of Mn3-xCoxGa films is presented by Co substitution, where critical behavior emerges 0.37 ≤ x ≤ 0.56 exhibiting a transition from tetragonal hard ferrimagnetic with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) to a cubic soft ferrimagnetic phase with in-plane magnetic anisotropy (IMA). In the critical regime, coexisting state of tetragonal and cubic phases possesses significantly low coercive field (HC = 1.9 kOe) with relatively low saturation magnetization (MS = 100~150 emu/cc) while maintaining the PMA. From first-principles calculations, moments of two Mn sites do not change upon Co substitution. However, moments of substituted Co almo…

Comparison of the sensitivity to spectral variation of voltage- and current-matched tandem devices with luminescent coupling and thickness optimizati…

2016

Using models that do not take luminescent coupling into account, voltage-matched tandem devices have previously been shown to be less sensitive to spectral variation than their current-matched counterparts. The present paper compares the spectral sensitivity of voltage-matched and current-matched tandem devices by applying a detailed balance model that takes luminescent coupling into account. Current-matched stacks where the thickness of the top cell thickness has been optimized are also considered. The main finding is that luminescent coupling reduces the difference in spectral sensitivity between voltage-matched and current-matched devices. There is still a significant difference, however…

Single-molecule controlled emission in planar plasmonic cavities

2014

International audience; We study the fluorescence emission from single dye molecules in coplanar plasmonic cavities composed of a thin gold film surrounded by two in-plane surface plasmon Bragg mirrors. We first discuss the effect of the presence of Bragg mirrors on the radiation diagram of surface plasmon coupled emission. Then, we investigate the role of the planar cavity size by single-molecule fluorescence lifetime imaging. Experimental data are compared to numerical simulations of the decay rates calculated as a function of the molecule orientation and position within the cavity. The creation of new decay channels by coupling to the cavity modes is also discussed. We measure a plasmoni…

Topological edge states of nonequilibrium polaritons in hollow honeycomb arrays

2020

We address topological currents in polariton condensates excited by uniform resonant pumps in finite honeycomb arrays of microcavity pillars with a hole in the center. Such currents arise under combined action of the spin–orbit coupling and Zeeman splitting, which breaks the time-reversal symmetry and opens a topological gap in the spectrum of the structure. The most representative feature of this structure is the presence of two interfaces, inner and outer ones, where the directions of topological currents are opposite. Due to the finite size of the structure, polariton–polariton interactions lead to coupling of the edge states at the inner and outer interfaces, which depends on the size o…

Spin-orbit-torque-induced skyrmion dynamics for different types of spin-orbit coupling

2018

Abstract We investigate current-induced skyrmion dynamics in the presence of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction and spin-orbit spin-transfer torque corresponding to various types of spin-orbit coupling. We determine the symmetries of Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction and spin-orbit spin-transfer torque based on linear spin-orbit coupling model. We find that like interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (Rashba spin-orbit coupling) and bulk Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (Weyl spin-orbit coupling), Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling also has a possibility for stabilizing skyrmion and current-induced skyrmion dynamics.
