Procesa dalībnieku tiesību iepazīties ar lietas materiāliem ierobežošana administratīvajā procesā tiesā
2016

Effect of ultrasound pre-treatment and drying method on specialized metabolites of honeyberry fruits (Lonicera caerulea var. kamtschatica).
2019
Abstract Honeyberries are rich in various nutrients (eg. minerals, and vitamins) and bioactive compounds (eg. polyphenols). The aim of the study was to evaluate the impact of ultrasound (USN) pre-treatment (100% power at 37 kHz) at 40 °C for 3 min and drying techniques (conduction or vacuum) on nutritional composition and bioactive compounds of honeyberry fruits. The evaluation of dried barriers revealed that both USN pre-treatment and drying techniques affected the composition of the final product. The highest vitamin C content (1.067–1.187 mg 100 g−1 DM) was found in fruit samples pre-treated by USN, regardless of the drying technology used. The highest total phenol (2.445 mg GAE 100 g−1 …
Composition of essential oil of lemon thyme (Thymus × citriodorus) at different hydrodistillation times.
2018
Distillation time can both to optimise the production and to engineer the composition of essential oil in essential oil bearing plants. Purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of duration of hydrodistillation on composition of essential oil of Thymus × citriodorus, the natural source of commercially important geraniol and citral, a component with valuable biological properties. Essential oils were isolated by hydrodistillation at different distillation times and analysed by GC/MS analytical methods. Increase in percentage of essential oil during all hydrodistillation time gradient was uneven. Elongation of hydrodistillation time decreased percentages of monoterpenes but increased p…
Gold Nanoparticles Supported on Nanoparticulate Ceria as a Powerful Agent against Intracellular Oxidative Stress
2012
Ceria-supported gold nanoparticles are prepared exhibiting peroxidase activity and acting as radical traps. Au/CeO2 shows a remarkable biocompatibility as demonstrated by measuring cellular viability, proliferation, and lack of apoptosis for two human cell lines (Hep3B and HeLa). The antioxidant activity of Au/CeO2 against reactive oxygen species (ROS) is demonstrated by studying the cellular behavior of Hep3B and HeLa in a model of cellular oxidative stress. It is determined that Au/CeO2 exhibits higher antioxidant activity than glutathione, the main cytosolic antioxidant compound, and its CeO2 carrier. Overall the result presented here shows the potential of implementing well-established …
Detoxifying antitumoral drugs via nanoconjugation: the case of gold nanoparticles and cisplatin
2021
Nanoparticles (NPs) have emerged as a potential tool to improve cancer treatment. Among the proposed uses in imaging and therapy, their use as a drug delivery scaffold has been extensively highlighted. However, there are still some controversial points which need a deeper understanding before clinical application can occur. Here the use of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) to detoxify the antitumoral agent cisplatin, linked to a nanoparticle via a pH-sensitive coordination bond for endosomal release, is presented. The NP conjugate design has important effects on pharmacokinetics, conjugate evolution and biodistribution and results in an absence of observed toxicity. Besides, AuNPs present unique o…
Cytotoxicity and bioactivity of various pulpotomy materials on stem cells from human exfoliated primary teeth.
2017
Aims To investigate the cytotoxicity and bioactivity of several pulpotomy materials: Biodentine (Septodont, Saint-Maur-des-Fosses, France) MTA (Angelus, Londrina, PR, Brazil), Theracal LC (Bisco Inc., Schamburg, IL, USA) and IRM (Dentsply DeTrey GmbH, Konstanz, Germany), after contact with stem cells isolated from human exfoliated primary teeth (SHEDs). Methodology SHEDs were cultured in the presence of the eluates of various pulpotomy materials for 24, 48 and 72 h. Cell viability was determined by mitochondrial dehydrogenase enzymatic (MTT) assay. Apoptosis and changes in cell phenotype were evaluated by flow cytometry. Also, an in vitro scratch wound-healing assay was used to determine th…
Stability of irinotecan-loaded drug eluting beads (DC BeadTM) used for transarterial chemoembolization
2009
Purpose. The aim of this study was to determine the loading efficiency, physicochemical stability, and release of irinotecan-loaded DC BeadsTM (bead size 100—300 μm, 300—500 μm) before and after mixing with nonionic contrast medium (Accupaque® 300, Imeron® 300, Ultravist ® 300) during a prolonged period of time (28 days) when stored at room temperature or refrigerated. Methods. DC Beads TM were loaded with 50 mg irinotecan (Campto®) per milliliter beads in a 2 h loading period. Drug loading efficiency and stability were determined by measuring the irinotecan concentration in the excess solution. A free-flowing in vitro elution method for a period of 2 h and phosphate buffered solution (PBS…
Acoustic methods for measuring the porosities of porous materials incorporating dead-end pores
2013
International audience; The acoustic properties of porous materials containing dead-end (DE) pores have been proposed by Dupont et al. [J. Appl. Phys. 110, 094903 (2011)]. In the theoretical description, two physical parameters were defined (the dead-end porosity and the average length of the dead-end pores). With the knowledge of the open porosity (measured with non-acoustic methods), and the measurement of kinematic porosity (also called the Biot porosity in this article), it is possible to deduce the dead-end porosity. Two acoustic methods for measuring the Biot porosity for a wide range of porosities are proposed. These methods are based on acoustic transmission and on the low and high …
In vivo comparison of a granular and putty form of a sintered and a non-sintered silica-enhanced hydroxyapatite bone substitute material
2019
Improved handling characteristics of bone substitute materials may facilitate surgical handling. However, the respective modifications should not alter the biological activity. For comparison of a ...
