Computational approach to compact Riemann surfaces

International audience; A purely numerical approach to compact Riemann surfaces starting from plane algebraic curves is presented. The critical points of the algebraic curve are computed via a two-dimensional Newton iteration. The starting values for this iteration are obtained from the resultants with respect to both coordinates of the algebraic curve and a suitable pairing of their zeros. A set of generators of the fundamental group for the complement of these critical points in the complex plane is constructed from circles around these points and connecting lines obtained from a minimal spanning tree. Spectral approach to D-bar problems

We present the first numerical approach to D-bar problems having spectral convergence for real analytic, rapidly decreasing potentials. The proposed method starts from a formulation of the problem in terms of an integral equation that is numerically solved with Fourier techniques. The singular integrand is regularized analytically. The resulting integral equation is approximated via a discrete system that is solved with Krylov methods. As an example, the D-bar problem for the Davey-Stewartson II equations is considered. The result is used to test direct numerical solutions of the PDE.© 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

The non-degenerate Dupin cyclides in the space of spheres using Geometric Algebra

International audience; Dupin cyclides are algebraic surfaces of degree 4 discovered by the French mathematician Pierre-Charles Dupin early in the 19th century and \textcolor{black}{were} introduced in CAD by R. Martin in 1982. A Dupin cyclide can be defined, in two different ways, as the envelope of a one-parameter family of oriented spheres. So, it is very interesting to model the Dupin cyclides in the space of spheres, space wherein each family of spheres can be seen as a conic curve. An alternative space-time meshless method for solving transient heat transfer problems with high discontinuous moving sources

International audience; The aim of this work is the development of a space-time diffuse approximation meshless method (DAM) to solve heat equations containing discontinuous sources. This work is devoted to transient heat transfer problems with static and moving heat sources applied on a metallic plate and whose power presents temporal discontinuities. The space-time DAM using classical weight function is convenient for continuous transient heat transfer. Nevertheless, for problems including discontinuities, some spurious oscillations for the temperature field occur. A new weight function, respecting the principle of causality, is used to eradicate the physically unexpected oscillations.
