This study presents a methodology to derive probabilistic flood hazard map in flood prone areas taking into account uncertainties in the definition of design-hydrographs. Particularly, we present an innovative approach to obtain probabilistic inundation and flood hazard maps where hydrological input (synthetic flood design event) to a 2D hydraulic model has been defined by generating flood peak discharges and volumes from a bivariate statistical analysis, through the use of copulas. Non-structural measures for flood risk mitigation are often more economically accessible, easier to implement, and are highly effective, especially in view of the pursuit of risk resilience objectives. Among the non-structural measures, more importance is increasingly being attributed to flood proofing interventions. There are two main types of flood proofing: dry proofing and wet proofing. Identification of Russian accented Finnish by native and non-native listeners with and without Finnish proficiency

 The study focuses on how different groups of listeners, that is native Finnish speakers (n = 18), non-native learners of Finnish (n = 12) and non-native non-learners of Finnish (n = 18), judge samples (n = 80) of Russian accented Finnish in an auditory experiment. The samples are read-aloud phrases of three Finnish speakers and three L1 Russian beginner learners of Finnish who were recorded three times at six-month intervals during their residence in Finland. Antarctic erosion history reconstructed by Terre Adélie moraine geochronology

AbstractWe report apatite fission-track and 10Be terrestrial cosmogenic nuclide (TCN) dating of 14 moraine boulders originating from inland Terre Adélie, East Antarctica. These data show cooling of the Proterozoic Terre Adélie craton at < ~120°C between 350 and 300 Ma, suggesting > 4 km temperate glacial erosion during the Late Palaeozoic Ice Age, followed by nearly null Mesozoic erosion and low glacial erosion (< 2 km) in the Cenozoic. Based on glacial flux maps, the origin of the boulders may be located ~400 km upstream. Preliminary TCN (10Be) datings of moraine boulders cluster within the last 30 ka. Responses and adaptations of collembolan communities (Hexapoda: Collembola) to flooding and hypoxic conditions

Standard ecological methods (pitfall traps, trunk eclectors and soil cores) were used to evaluate collembolan community responses to different flooding intensities. Three sites of a floodplain habitat near Mainz, Germany, with different flooding regimes were investigated. The structures of collembolan communities are markedly different depending on flooding intensity. Sites more affected by flooding are dominated by hygrophilic and hygrotolerant species, whereas the hardwood floodplain is dominated by mesophilic species. La reciente construcción de una epidemia de obesidad global favorece que -además de ser estéticamente deseable- la delgadez se considere autoevidencia del estado de salud del individuo y marca de moralidad. En esta autoetnografía reflexiono sobre mi vivencia de ser gorda desde la infancia hasta la adultez, desde un enfoque sociológico feminista. La imposición cultural de la delgadez y la gordofobia alimentaron sentimientos de incapacidad, inadecuación corporal y sufrimiento psicológico que promovieron conductas alimentarias problemáticas. Així, des de la Universitat Rey Juan Carlos s'ha desenvolupat un projecte d'innovació docent basat en l'aprenentatge cooperatiu amb l'objectiu principal que els alumnes adquireixin un major coneixement de les empreses, professionals i anuncis més creatius realitzats a Espanya al mateix temps que posen en pràctica competències i habilitats que els seran requerides en el seu futur professional. Per a això, es va aplicar la tècnica puzle d'Aronson i la prova del test-retest.
