L’invenzione riguarda la realizzazione di un pannello di vetromattoni montati “a secco” -da impiegare per la realizzazione di involucri edilizi traslucidi anche nel caso di edifici alti- che è in grado di rispondere adeguatamente alle sollecitazioni orizzontali (quali quelle dovute a vento e sisma) grazie all’applicazione della tecnica della precompressione mondirezionale. The invention is related to the construction of a glassblock panel “dry assembled” that can be used to build translucent building envelope even in high-rise buildings. This panel is able to contrast the horizontal actions due to wind and earthquake by means of the application of unidirectional pre-stressing technique. To overcame the limits due to the “wet assembly” system traditionally used to assemble the glassblocks the use of prestressing technique allow the panels to have an adequate mechanical resistance against the actions perpendicular to their installation plane. In this configuration the mechanical resistance of the glassblocks is exploited. The unidirectional prestressing (along the prevalent dimension of the panel) is obtained through the grip of the nuts inserted in the steel bars that are housed inside the glassblocks supporting profiles positioned in the vertical cavities between the glassblocks and passing through the horizontal profiles useful to separate glassblock rows from each other. The proper nuts grip opposing to the steel plates positioned at the top and bottom of the panel allow to prestress the panel. Solid state 13C-NMR methodology for the cellulose composition studies of the shells of Prunus dulcis and their derived cellulosic materials.

Lignocellulosic fibers and microcellulose have been obtained by simple alkaline treatment from softwood al- mond shells. In particular, the Prunus dulcis Miller (D.A.) Webb. was considered as a agro industrial waste largely available in southern Italy. The materials before and after purification have been characterized by 13C CPMAS NMR spectroscopy methodology. A proper data analysis provided the relative composition of lignin and holo- cellulose at each purification step and the results were compared with thermogravimetric analysis and FT-IR. An inter-laboratory comparison to evaluate the suitability of EN 1787 standard to detect irradiation in plant-origin foods with health benefits

Abstract This paper reports the results of a study carried out to verify the applicability of the EN 1787 method, which uses the Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) technique for the identification of irradiated plant-origin foods with health benefits. The method was tested on samples of herbal ingredients of Plant Food Supplements (PFSs), nuts and fresh blueberries. In fact, the fungal metabolites produced by the species of Aspergillus, Penicillium (aflatoxins and ochratoxins), Fusarium (trichothecenes, zearalenones and fumonisins) and Alternaria (alternariotoxins) with toxic and/or carcinogenic effects are considered a threat to human and animal health. International audience; Tiger nut (Cyperus esculentus) is a tuber that can be consumed raw or processed into beverages. Its nutritional composition shows a high content of lipid and dietary fiber, close to those of nuts, and a high content of starch, like in other tubers. Tiger nuts also contain high levels of phosphorus, calcium, and phenolic compounds, which contribute to their antioxidant activity. From those characteristics, tiger nuts and derived beverages are particularly relevant to limit food insecurity in regions where the plant can grow. Participants were older subjects at high risk for cardiovascular disease. This analysis included 2866 nondiabetic subjects.
