Metal-free, Cu(II)- or Zn(II) tetrakis [4-(2,4-bis-(1,1-dimethylpropyl)phenoxy)]phthalocyanines loaded over TiO2 (anatase) proved to be active in the photoreduction of CO2 to formic acid (HCO2H) in water under UV-vis light. CuPc/TiO2 is catalyst of choice, allowing to reach a maximum yield of HCO2H, unequalled by any other similar catalytic systems. Because of their low environmental impact, low potential cost, and efficient power conversion, these multipurpose materials show promise in the setup of sustainable methods for CO2 valorization. NiO diluted in high surface area TiO2 as efficient catalysts for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane

[EN] Catalysts consisting of NiO diluted in high surface area TiO2 can be as efficient in the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane as the most selective NiO-promoted catalysts reported previously in the literature. By selecting the titania matrix and the NiO loading, yields to ethylene over 40% have been obtained. In the present article, three different titanium oxides (TiO2) have been employed as supports or diluters of nickel oxide and have been tested in the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane to ethylene. Photoactivity of shape-controlled TiO2 in gas-solid regime under solar irradiation

Abstract Differently shape-controlled anatase TiO2 materials were tested as photocatalysts under both simulated and natural solar irradiation. Their photocatalytic activity in 2-propanol and propene partial oxidation and in the complete mineralization of acetaldehyde appears to increase with decreasing the shape control of the TiO2 material. This insight seems to be related to the residual presence of the templating species (fluoride anions) employed during the preparation of the shape-controlled TiO2 materials. TiO2 photocatalysts prepared by thermohydrolysis of TiCl4 in aqueous solutions

Abstract Nanostructured TiO 2 photocatalysts were synthesized by thermohydrolysis of TiCl 4 at 100 °C in various aqueous solutions. Anatase or rutile, binary mixtures of anatase and rutile or anatase and brookite, and ternary mixtures of anatase, brookite and rutile were obtained depending on the hydrolysis solution. The most efficient catalysts consisted of ternary mixtures of the three polymorphic TiO 2 phases.
Preparation, Characterization, and Photoactivity of Polycrystalline Nanostructured TiO2 Catalysts.

Various preparations of nanostructured TiO2 starting from Ti(iso-OC3H7)4 or TiCl4 are reported. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffractometry, specific surface area and porosity determinations, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. 4-Nitrophenol photodegradation in aqueous medium was employed as a probe reaction to test the photoactivity of the catalysts. The photoactivity of some samples derived from Ti(iso-OC3H7)4 was found comparable with that of commercial powders. Activity of phthalocyanine-sensitized TiO2-anatase in photooxidation of sulfite ions

Abstract Hybrid catalysts based on the TiO2 matrix impregnated with Nd, Eu and Yb diphthalocyanines proved effective in oxidation of sulfite ions under irradiation with light from the UV-visible range. Micro- and nano-crystalline anatase powders were used in preparation of the photocatalysts, which were applied in the form of a suspension in the water phase. The reaction yield was found to depend on the phthalocyanine sensitizer used and the conditions of TiO2 impregnation. The best results were obtained when micro-anatase impregnated with Yb-diphthalocyanine was used.

The present study reports on a simple preparation strategy of a hybrid catalyst, TiO2/HKUST-1, containing TiO2 anatase nanoparticles (NPs) with tailored morphology and photocatalytic activity coupled with a porous metal-organic framework (MOF), namely HKUST-1, as an advanced material for the CO2 photocatalytic reduction. Reduced grey brookite for noble metal free photocatalytic H2evolution

Herein we introduce for the first time a reduced “grey” brookite TiO2 photocatalyst, produced by thermal hydrogenation of brookite nanoparticles, that shows a remarkable noble metal free photocatalytic H2 evolution. Its activity is substantially higher than that of other TiO2 polymorphs, i.e. anatase or rutile, comparably sized and activated by hydrogenation under optimized conditions.
