Resveratrol-mediated apoptosis of hodgkin lymphoma cells involves SIRT1 inhibition and FOXO3a hyperacetylation

2012

Resveratrol (RSV), a plant-derived stilbene, induces cell death in Hodgkin lymphoma (HL)-derived L-428 cells in a dose-dependent manner (IC50 = 27 μM, trypan blue exclusion assay). At a lower range (25 μM), RSV treatment for 48 hr causes arrest in the S-phase of the cell cycle, while at a higher concentration range (50 μM), apoptosis can be detected, with activation of caspase-3. The histone/protein deacetylase SIRT1 has been described as a putative target of RSV action in other model systems, even though its role in cancer cells is still controversial. Here we show that RSV, at both concentration ranges, leads to a marked increase in p53, while a decrease of SIRT1 expression level, as well…

Temperature and time dependent electron trapping in Al2O3 thin films onto AlGaN/GaN heterostructures

2022

In this article, the charge trapping phenomena in Al2O3 thin films grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD) on AlGaN/GaN heterostructures have been studied by time-dependent capacitance–voltage (C-V) measurements as a function of temperature. In particular, monitoring the transient of the capacitance enabled us to estimate the maximum depth of the insulating layer interested by the negative charge trapping effect under our bias stress conditions and to determine a charge traps density in the bulk Al2O3 in the order of 3 × 1019 cm−3. A temperature dependent C-V analysis up to 150 °C demonstrated the presence of two competitive mechanisms that rule the electron capture and emission in the Al2O3…

Bimodal tracers synthesis for medical imaging PET/MRI

2015

Today physicians can use a wide variety of medical imaging techniques to establish early and accurate diagnosis. Nevertheless, each modality has its own advantages and drawbacks. This is why bi- or multimodality approach seems interesting. Among them, PET/MRI combination seems very promising because it can bring complementary informations. It is therefore necessary to inject to patients tracers specific to each imaging modality. This work described the synthesis of molecular platforms for MRI and PET imaging, according to 2 different strategies. The first one consisted in the synthesis of a DO3A macrocycle allowing the chelation of both gadolinium for MRI and gallium 68 for PET. The aim her…

A simple method to fabricate high-performance nanostructured WO3 photocatalysts with adjusted morphology in the presence of complexing agents

2017

[EN] The rich and complex chemistry of tungsten was employed to synthesize innovative WO3 nanoplatelets/nanosheets by simple anodization in acidic electrolytes containing different concentrations of complexing agents or ligands, namely F- and H2O2. The morphological and photoelectrochemical properties of these nanostructures were characterized. The best of these nanostructures generated stable photocurrent densities of ca. 1.8 mA cm(-2) at relatively low bias potentials (for WO3) of 0.7 V-Ag/AgCl under simulated solar irradiation, which can be attributed to a very high active surface area. This work demonstrates that the morphology and dimensions of these nanostructures, as well as their ph…

Protonic ceramic fuel cell : elaboration and characterization. Investigation of the BaZr0.8Y0.2O3-d electrolyte by electrochemical impedance spectros…

2021

One of the current global challenges is to find novel, clean and efficient techniques for the energy production. The use of electrochemical cells and hydrogen is one of the solutions. These cells convert the excess energy produced by conventional systems into hydrogen by steam electrolysis. The hydrogen can be stored and transformed into electricity when needed in the fuel cell mode. Among the different electrochemical cells, protonic ceramic electrochemical cells have attracted much attention due to their high efficiency at intermediate temperature (400 – 600 °C). In addition, these systems offer the advantage of not diluting the fuel in electrolysis mode. This thesis work focuses on the e…

Long-lived contrails and convective cirrus above the tropical tropopause

2017

Abstract. This study has two objectives: (1) it characterizes contrails at very low temperatures and (2) it discusses convective cirrus in which the contrails occurred. (1) Long-lived contrails and cirrus from overshooting convection are investigated above the tropical tropopause at low temperatures down to −88 °C from measurements with the Russian high-altitude research aircraft M-55 Geophysica, as well as related observations during the SCOUT-O3 field experiment near Darwin, Australia, in 2005. A contrail was observed to persist below ice saturation at low temperatures and low turbulence in the stratosphere for nearly 1 h. The contrail occurred downwind of the decaying convective system H…

Synthesis and characterization of vanadyl(IV) complexes of Schiff bases derived from anthranilic acid and salicylaldehyde (or its derivatives) or ace…

1997

Anhydrous, dimeric vanadyl(IV) complexes of Schiff bases derived from [1+1] condensation of salicylaldehyde (or its derivatives) and anthranilic acid, have been synthesized from CH3CN and were characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR, EPR, absorption, TGA, cyclic voltammetry and room temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements. These complexes were found to be oxidized by air in polar solvents like MeOH and DMF to V-V products. The E(1/2) values were found to be around 660 mV indicating that the carboxylate group favours vanadyl(IV) binding when compared to the alkoxo-bound vanadium complexes. Oxidative instability of these complexes are dependent on the substituent on the salicylalde…

A liquid alkoxide precursor for the atomic layer deposition of aluminum oxide films

2020

For large-scale atomic layer deposition (ALD) of alumina, the most commonly used alkyl precursor trimethylaluminum poses safety issues due to its pyrophoric nature. In this work, the authors have investigated a liquid alkoxide, aluminum tri-sec-butoxide (ATSB), as a precursor for ALD deposition of alumina. ATSB is thermally stable and the liquid nature facilitates handling in a bubbler and potentially enables liquid injection toward upscaling. Both thermal and plasma enhanced ALD processes are investigated in a vacuum type reactor by using water, oxygen plasma, and water plasma as coreactants. All processes achieved ALD deposition at a growth rate of 1-1.4 angstrom/cycle for substrate tempe…

Compressibility Systematics of Calcite-Type Borates: An Experimental and Theoretical Structural Study on ABO(3) (A = Al, Sc, Fe, and In)

2014

The structural properties of calcite-type orthoborates ABO(3) (A = Al, Fe, Sc, and In) have been investigated at high pressures up to 32 GPa. They were studied experimentally using synchrotron powder X-ray diffraction and theoretically by means of ab initio total-energy calculations. We found that the calcite-type structure remains stable up to the highest pressure explored in the four studied compounds. Experimental and calculated static geometries (unit-cell parameters and internal coordinates), bulk moduli, and their pressure derivatives are in good agreement. The compressibility along the c axis is roughly three times that along the a axis. Our data clearly indicate that the compressibi…
