Pohjoismainen aineistojen yhteiskäytön ja kokoelmatyön NORDILL -konferenssi järjestettiin jo 12. kerran, tällä kertaa konferenssin pitopaikkana oli Kööpenhamina. Konferenssissa huomasi nopean muutoksen termistössä: puhe kaukolainauksesta ja yhteiskäytännöistä on siirtynyt puheeseen resurssien yhteiskäytöstä ja digitaalisen maailman tuomista uusista haasteista kaukopalvelulle ja aineistojen yhteiskäytölle. Uusi digitaalinen toimintaympäristö on luonut runsaasti mahdollisuuksia hankkia ja löytää aineistoa, joka ennen digitoimista oli paikkaan sidottua. Tutkin pro gradu -työssäni verkossa tehtävää kirjallisuuden esittelytoimintaa osana verkkokirjastotoimintaa. Tarkastelen sitä, miten verkkosivujen vinkkiosiot ja kaunokirjallisuuden esittelytekstit ylläpitävät kirjaston roolia kirjallisuuden välittäjänä ja asiantuntijana. Tutkimukseni aineistona ovat Suomen 18 maakuntakirjaston ja kirjastokimpan verkkosivujen vinkkiosiot ja erityisesti niiden kaunokirjallisuus-osiot. Taustoitan tutkimukseni avaamalla Suomen kirjastojen historiaa ja kehitystä nykyaikaisiksi hybridikirjastoiksi. Automatic auditory and somatosensory brain responses in relation to cognitive abilities and physical fitness in older adults

AbstractIn normal ageing, structural and functional changes in the brain lead to an altered processing of sensory stimuli and to changes in cognitive functions. The link between changes in sensory processing and cognition is not well understood, but physical fitness is suggested to be beneficial for both. We recorded event-related potentials to somatosensory and auditory stimuli in a passive change detection paradigm from 81 older and 38 young women and investigated their associations with cognitive performance. The purpose of this research was to study skill learning and the meaning of the art and skill subjects in Finnish comprehensive school. During the last decade, there have been many discussions in the media about the position of the art and skill subjects in our school system and the curriculum. The beginning, the idea, of this study can be located in 2003, when we educators were in the middle of designing the new curriculum for the year 2004. Objectives The aim of this preplanned secondary analysis of a 12-month randomised controlled trial was to investigate the effects of a multicomponent exercise programme combined with daily whey protein, calcium and vitamin D supplementation on cognition in men with prostate cancer treated with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT).
