Aqueous coefficient calculations for chemicals and drugs

Aqueous functional group activity coefficients (AQUAFAC) is a group‐contribution method for estimating the aqueous coefficients. We have written a program for the calculation of these coefficients. The solubility S w of alkanes shows variation of 8 orders of magnitude. The comparison with experiment shows that AQUAFAC gives good S w estimations. For 4'‐substituted acetanilides, I‐, Br‐, nitro‐, Cl‐, F‐ and methoxy‐substituents decrease S w, while formyl‐ and amino‐substituents increase S w. For acetaminophen esters, S w decreases from the acetate to the decanoate. The S w of 29 barbiturates shows typical errors of 0.4 log S w units. In slices of human neocortex, prelabelled with [3H]-choline, the release of [3H]-acetylcholine reflects the evoked release of endogenous acetylcholine which was elicited by the same electrical stimulation paradigm. [3H]-Acetylcholine release was depressed by the delta-opioid receptor agonist D-Pen2-D-Pen5-enkephalin. When the nerve endings were depolarized by elevating extracellular potassium the evoked [3H]-acetylcholine release was similarly depressed by D-Pen2-D-Pen5-enkephalin in the absence, but not in the presence, of tetrodotoxin which blocks action potential propagation. The present work was aimed at investigating whether the patients’ involvement by their healthcare providers may satisfy patients’ fundamental psychological needs (i.e. self-esteem, belonging, control, meaningful existence), which in turn, can impact their psychological well-being. Based on the European Quality of Life Survey data, the sample included 10,427 European adults who, in the last 12 months, visited GP/family doctors and hospital/medical specialists. Among them, 51.3% declared to have a chronic disease. Context: High altitude (HA) is a model of severe hypoxia exposure in humans. We hypothesized that nocturnal hypoxemia or acute maximal exercise at HA might affect plasma leptin and VEGF levels. Objectives: Plasma leptin, VEGF and other metabolic variables were studied after nocturnal pulse oximetry and after maximal exercise in healthy lowlanders on the 3rd-4th day of stay in Lobuche (5050 m, HA) and after return to sea level (SL). Results: Leptin was similar at SL or HA in both pre- and post-exercise conditions. Human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs) are a source for cell therapy.
