Ambient temperature is assumed to be the major cue used by passerines to synchronize their laying and hatching dates to the expected peak of prey availability. While laying eggs, females are still able to fine-tune their hatching date following increasing or decreasing patterns of ambient temperature, mostly via changes in incubation onse t. Application of viability PCR to discriminate the infectivity of hepatitis A virus in food samples.

Abstract Transmitted through the fecal–oral route, the hepatitis A virus (HAV) is acquired primarily through close personal contact and foodborne transmission. HAV detection in food is mainly carried out by quantitative RT-PCR (RT-qPCR). The discrimination of infectious and inactivated viruses remains a key obstacle when using RT-qPCR to quantify enteric viruses in food samples. Initially, viability dyes, propidium monoazide (PMA) and ethidium monoazide (EMA), were evaluated for the detection and quantification of infectious HAV in lettuce wash water. Synthesis and structural studies by infrared and Mössbauer spectroscopy of adducts of tin(IV) and organotin(IV) derivatives with 2,2′-azopyridine

Abstract A number of complexes have been prepared by the reaction between 2,2′-azopyridine(AZP) and tin(IV) halides and organotin(IV) halides, and characterized by elemental analysis and infrared and variable temperature 119Sn Mossbauer spectroscopies. All of the new compounds have 1:1 stoichiometry, with the AZP ligand occupying two coordination sites by bonding through one of the ring and one of the azo group nitrogen atoms, to give rise to distorted octahedral structures. In the diorganotin complexes the two organic groups occupy trans positions. The infrared and Mossbauer spectroscopic data suggest that these compounds are monomeric in the solid state.

In Christian Theology, on the one hand, and Physics, on the other, exist different views about the age of the universe, the age of the earth, and about particularities of other historical events. Obviously, this is a serious obstacle for a harmonious relationship between both. Much more serious, however, is the difference between the respective epistemological climates. The epistemological climate of Theology is ”luminous” because it relies on common sense. On the contrary, the epistemological climate of Physics is ”dark”, insofar it deviates from common sense.
