Amazonian tropical forests play a significant role in global water, carbon and energy cycles. Considering the relevance of this biome and the climate change projections which predict a hotter and drier climate for the region, the monitoring of the vegetation status of these forests becomes of significant importance. In this context, vegetation temperature and evapotranspiration (ET) can be considered as key variables. Vegetation temperature is directly linked with plant physiology. The paper presents new faunistic data on the occurrence of true-bugs Heteroptera in south-eastern Poland. Localities were scattered in 25 UTM squares in five zoogeographical regions: Małopolska Upland, Świętokrzyskie Mts, Western Beskidy Mts, Eastern Beskidy Mts and Bieszczady Mts. The small protein SCO2038 modulates tryptophan biosynthesis and morpho-physiological differentiation in Streptomyces coelicolor

In Streptomyces coelicolor small open reading frames were identified in several amino acids biosynthetic gene clusters, like SCO2038 (trpX) in the tryptophan trpCXBA locus. Here, the role of SCO2038, encoding a 63 amino acid protein, was investigated by both phenotypic and molecular analyses. A SCO2038 knockout mutant strain showed a delayed growth on minimal medium (MM), compromised actinorhodin biosynthesis and poor sporulation. The capability of this mutant to grow on MM was restored by tryptophan’s and its precursors’ supplementation. Background This study aimed to compare the histological and immunohistochemical characteristics of ameloblastomas (AM) and ameloblastic carcinomas (AC). Material and Methods Fifteen cases of AM and 9 AC were submitted to hematoxilin and eosin (H&E) and immunohistochemical analysis with the following antibodies: cytokeratins 5,7,8,14 and 19, Ki-67, p53, p63 and the cellular adhesion molecules CD138 (Syndecan-1), E-cadherin and β-catenin. The mean score of the expression of Ki-67 and p53 labelling index (LIs) were compared between the groups using the t test. A value of p<0.05 was considered to be statistically significant.
