Geometric représentations of the braid groups

We show that the morphisms from the braid group with n strands in the mapping class group of a surface with a possible non empty boundary, assuming that its genus is smaller or equal to n/2 are either cyclic morphisms (their images are cyclic groups), or transvections of monodromy morphisms (up to multiplication by an element in the centralizer of the image, the image of a standard generator of the braid group is a Dehn twist, and the images of two consecutive standard generators are two Dehn twists along two curves intersecting in one point). A note on the Lawrence-Krammer-Bigelow representation

A very popular problem on braid groups has recently been solved by Bigelow and Krammer, namely, they have found a faithful linear representation for the braid group B_n. In their papers, Bigelow and Krammer suggested that their representation is the monodromy representation of a certain fibration. Our goal in this paper is to understand this monodromy representation using standard tools from the theory of hyperplane arrangements. In particular, we prove that the representation of Bigelow and Krammer is a sub-representation of the monodromy representation which we consider, but that it cannot be the whole representation.

This text offers to analyse Juan José Campanella’s picture El secreto de sus ojos (2009) connecting it with its coherence or distance in respect to traditional codes of melodrama. The male and sometimes ironic focus on pathetic possibilities seems to present it as an inverted melodrama. The love story seems to be pushed into the background by the investigation of a criminal case in pre-dictatorial context, whereas in actual fact, the three levels of the synopsis intertwine to build the framework’s logic. This thesis has two goals: the first one is to improve the control techniques in quantum mechanics, and more specifically in NMR, by using the tools of geometric optimal control. The second one is the study of the influence of Hamiltonian singularities in controlled systems. The chapter about optimal control study three classical problems of NMR : the inversion problem, the influence of the radiation damping term, and the steady state technique. Bakalaura darbs “Aizstāvis kriminālprocesā” ir izstrādāts Latvijas Universitātes Juridiskās fakultātes Krimināltiesisko zinātņu katedrā. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētīt juridisko literatūru, tiesu praksi, Latvijas normatīvo regulējumu attiecībā uz aizstāvi kriminālprocesā, kā arī izpētīt ārvalstu nacionālos normatīvos aktus. Pētījumā tika izzināta aizstāvja loma, tā tiesības un pienākumi kriminālprocesā. Izvērtējot spēkā esošo normatīvo aktu bāzi, tika pētīti priekšlikumi veikt grozījumus Kriminālprocesa likumā.

Bakalaura darba nosaukums ir “Aizstāvis kriminālprocesā”. Darbā tika pētīta aizstāvja jēdziena izpratne, kā arī aizstāvja tiesības un pienākumi kriminālprocesā. Pētījuma gaitā tiek analizēti normatīvie akti, kas saistīti ar aizstāvja jēdzienu un aizstāvja funkciju reglamentāciju.

Valsts nodrošināta juridiskā palīdzība ir viens no taisnīgas tiesa sastāvdaļām. Īpaši svarīga šāda palīdzība ir kriminālprocesā, jo nodrošina personu ar advokāta aizstāvību. Lai gan tiesiskais regulējums ir izstrādāts, tas ir jāpilnveido, ņemot vērā citu valstu tiesu praksi. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētīt valsts nodrošinātās juridiskās palīdzības saņemšanas tiesisko regulējumu Latvijā un citās valstīs, konstatējot problēmjautājumus tiesiskajā regulējumā.
