The photophysical and DNA-binding properties of the cationic zinc(II) complex of 5-triethylammonium methyl salicylidene ortho-phenylenediiminato (ZnL 2 + ) were investi- gated by a combination of experimental and theoretical methods. DFT calculations were performed on both the ground and the first excited states of ZnL 2 + and on its possi- ble mono- and dioxidation products, both in vacuo and in selected solvents mimicked by the polarizable continuum model. Radioactive molecules—in which one or more of the atoms possesses a radioactive nucleus—can contain heavy and deformed nuclei, offering high sensitivity for investigating parity- and time-reversal-violation effects5,6. The paper analyzes the evolution of sporting activity for disabled people, focusing in particular on the problems concerning the performance of risky sporting activities by people with mental disabilities; these problems per- tain to the relationship between the protection of health understood as the interest of the community and the protection of health understood as the right to the pursuit of happiness, which also involve the question of the limits to the acts of disposing of one's body, and which are resolved through a continuous dialogue between the sports system and the state system.

The effect of skis on the force–time characteristics of the simulated ski jumping takeoff was examined in a wind tunnel. Takeoff forces were recorded with a force plate installed under the tunnel floor. Signals from the front and rear parts of the force plate were collected separately to examine the anteroposterior balance of the jumpers during the takeoff. Two ski jumpers performed simulated takeoffs, first without skis in nonwind conditions and in various wind conditions. Thereafter, the same experiments were repeated with skis. Badania przeprowadzono na próbkach wody w Kielcach pochodzące z dwóch ujęć: Białogon i Zagnańsk. Przedstawiono wyniki wybranych wskaźników dla tych wód, m.in. najważniejszych wpływających na ich stabilność chemiczną, tj. wapnia lub magnezu. Następnie, za pomocą programu PHREEQC, obliczono wskaźniki stabilności dla wód w Kielcach z dwóch ujęć, o których mowa. W kolejnym etapie sprawdzono poprawność metody badania wody za pomocą programu poprzez bilans jonowy wody i porównanie pH wyznaczonej wody z wartością wyznaczoną w wyniku obliczeń. Dla wyżej wymienionych czynności przygotowano tabele i obliczenia, na podstawie których wyciągnięto odpowiednie wnioski

Spectral analysis of the dipping LMXB system XB 1916-053

Context: XB 1916-053 is a low mass X-ray binary system (LMXB) hosting a neutron star (NS) and showing periodic dips. The spectrum of the persistent emission was modeled with a blackbody component having a temperature between 1.31 and 1.67 keV and with a Comptonization component with an electron temperature of 9.4 keV and a photon index $\Gamma$ between 2.5 and 2.9. The presence of absorption features associated with highly ionized elements suggested the presence of partially ionized plasma in the system. Treatment of oral lichen planus with photodynamic therapy mediated methylene blue: a case report.

Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a common chronic disease of uncertain origin. Many patients with OLP are refractory to all available therapies. The photodynamic therapy (PDT) was used as a possible alternative method in the treatment of lichen planus. Two patients with five oral lichen planus lesions were treated using topical PDT mediated by methylene blue (MB-PDT). The patients were followed up on sessions 3, 7, 15 days and 1 to 9 months after PDT. Clinical improvement was achieved in four lesions. Two lesions showed complete remission, and another two lesions had about 50% clinically improvement 3-9 months after a single session of PDT. No response detected in one lesion. MB-PDT blue seems t…
