The Network Balance Realized by Routing Organization System
2011
In the presented paper, we propose to exploit routing organization for the purpose of managing network resources. According to our assumptions, we have the same quantity of materials, objects, tokens, tools etc. at our disposal in every node of the network. During network operation we must distribute resources between these nodes. It should be carried out as instantaneously and as economically as possible. Multi-Agent Systems are also used to deal with this kind of tasks and the centralised algorithms presented in this paper are to be used to measure the efficiency of the distributed MAS solution. From the logistical point of view, we have a sequence of stages with different states of token…

The pricing capability lifecycle of digital innovations
2021
The pricing capability provides a basis for firms’ competitive advantage. However, to date, the literature has not investigated how this capability forms, develops, and matures. In this study, we define the pricing capability as a dynamic capability consisting of three operational building blocks (tools and data, human and relational resources, and processes, routines, and mechanisms) as well as two dynamic capability building blocks (alertness and responsiveness, and value-based strategic thinking). Furthermore, we propose the pricing capability lifecycle of digital innovations that incorporates insights of the dynamic capabilities view (DCV). Based on a longitudinal multi-case study of fi…
From sin to the civil order, unions outside of marriage under the law (XVI-XX century)
2011
The aim of this thesis is to understand the legal status of unmarried couples, over a period of time extending for nearly five centuries. The canon law of marriage relegated cohabitation to a permanent state of sin, and in the sixteenth century, the council of Trent prescribed severe penalties to punish cohabitation. The fathers of the council enacted rules governing the celebration of marriage. Secular authority then gradually arrogated jurisdiction in matrimonial matters by means of laws and jurisprudence. The line between marriage and cohabitation was now strictly drawn. Although the old law did not consider cohabitation as a crime, it castigated children born outside of wedlock by subje…

Management diversity begets biodiversity in production forest landscapes
2022
How to manage forest for biodiversity conservation is an ongoing debate. We argue that maximizing biodiversity in managed forest landscapes requires a diversity of forest management regimes in space and time. This will generate high levels of habitat heterogeneity at a landscape scale, which in turn will support various groups of forest species. Based on concepts from landscape ecology, we formulate five hypotheses on how management diversity, i.e. combining various management approaches can benefit overall biodiversity across a production forest landscape. First, management diversity will increase habitat diversity and, therefore, beta diversity (the habitat diversity hypothesis). Second, …
Development of Applications for Interactive and Reproducible Research: a Case Study
2016
For a proper understanding of the organization and regulation of gene expression, the computational analysis is an essential component of the scientific workflow, and this is particularly true in the fields of biostatistics and bioinformatics. Interactivity and reproducibility are two highly relevant features to consider when adopting or designing a tool, and often they can not be provided simultaneously. In this work, we address the issue of developing a framework that can provide interactive analysis, in order to allow experimentalists to fully exploit advanced software tools, as well as reproducibility as an internal validation of the analysis steps, by providing the underlying code and d…
