“Doktor Faustus” of Thomas Mann, as explained by its author, is a novel on German civilization in which music plays the role of paradigm. Nevertheless the author grasps a lot of quotations from different disciplines and topics, ― e.g., theology, policy, philosophy, music, chemistry ― with the aim of depicting the creation of a second nature in music according the rules of twelve-note composition established by Arnold Schoenberg. The starting point of this complicated narrative is the reinterpretation of Theodor W. In this paper a method for cloud cover assessment at night-time (when only thermal infrared data are available) is presented. It is based on the analysis of long wave radiation transfer processes in partially cloudy areas, which led to the formulation of a simplified model of the surface–cloud–atmosphere system. The model was implemented in an operational and iterative algorithm to solve the radiative equations. Influence of cloudiness over the values of erythemal radiation in Valencia, Spain

The influence of cloudiness over experimental UV erythemal radiation (UVER) has been studied. This influence has been analysed considering total cloudiness and low clouds. The measurements of cloudiness correspond to the daily values registered at 13:00 GMT at the Meteorological Centre of Valencia, which is part of the State Agency of Meteorology of Spain (AEMET). The UVER measurements were made using a YES UVB-1 radiometer located on the roof terrace of the Physics Faculty at the Burjassot Campus, Valencia (latitude 39.508° , longitude − 0.418° , 60 m above sea level). Fosfonija grupu saturošo jonu šķidrumu sintēze un to izmantošana spirtu dehidratācijas reakcijās. Balode A.M., zinātniskais vadītājs Dr. ķīm., asoc. prof. Prikšāne A. Bakalaura darbs, 57 lappuses, 19 attēli, 15 tabulas, 31 literatūras avots, 10 pielikumi. Latviešu valodā. Darbā tiek veikta cviterjona sāls sintēze no trifenilfosfonija ar 1,3-propānsultonu. Iegūtā cviterjona sāls tīrība pārbaudīta ar 1H KMR, tālāk to izmanto skābo jonu šķidrumu iegūšanai ar p-toluolsulfonskābes monohidrātu un sērskābi. Ar iegūtajiem jonu šķidrumiem tālāk tiek pētītas spirtu dehidratācijas reakcijas, attiecīgi mainot reakcijas laiku un katalizatora un izejvielas attiecības.
