Slightly radiopaque uric acid calculi: impact upon therapeutic considerations?

Ten patients with slightly radiopaque urinary calculi were treated by percutaneous litholapaxy or even open surgery. The stone analysis revealed uric acid as the main stone composite suggesting that these patients should have been treated by oral litholysis alone alkalinizing the urine and decreasing uric acid levels with allopurinol. CT density measurements proved that concrements with HE less than 600 can be successfully dissolved by oral medication alone. Twenty-four patients were subsequently treated by oral citrate alkalinizing the spontaneous urine to pH 6.8-7.2 dissolving even large staghorns within 6-8 weeks. Solapamiento del nicho trófico en un área de cría en la costa portuguesa

The diets and the trophic niche overlap between seven flatfish species were studied in a coastal nursery adjoining to the Tagus estuary (Portugal). Fish were sampled monthly, from March to November 1999, using a beach seine. Arnoglossus imperialis (Rafinesque, 1810), Arnoglossus laterna (Walbaum, 1792) and Arnoglossus thori Kyle, 1913, fed mainly on crustaceans. The diets of Buglossidium luteum (Risso, 1810) and Dicologoglossa cuneata (Moreau, 1881) were mainly composed of Bivalvia and Polychaeta, while for Scophthalmus rhombus (Linnaeus, 1758) the main food items were Mysidacea and Teleostei. La transición entre turnos conversacionales : Silencios, solapamientos e interrupciones

Beatriz.Gallardo@uv.es En este artículo se estudia la problemática de la transición entre turnos. Los silencios, los solapamientos y las interrupciones son los fenómenos más evidentes derivados de las unidades conversacio nales. Se analizan la clasificación y la tipología de estos elementos. El silencio puede clasificarse como pausa, intervalo o lapso, según la posición en la conversación. En los casos de habla simultánea se pueden dar solapamientos colaborativos o competitivos (interrupciones), con una gradación interna regulada por la organización conversacional.

Rad51 and BRCA2 - New Molecular Targets for Sensitizing Glioma Cells to Alkylating Anticancer Drugs

First line chemotherapeutics for brain tumors (malignant gliomas) are alkylating agents such as temozolomide and nimustine. Despite growing knowledge of how these agents work, patients suffering from this malignancy still face a dismal prognosis. Alkylating agents target DNA, forming the killing lesion O(6)-alkylguanine, which is converted into DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) that trigger apoptosis. Here we assessed whether inhibiting repair of DSBs by homologous recombination (HR) or non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) is a reasonable strategy for sensitizing glioma cells to alkylating agents. Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibition synergizes with the NF-κB inhibitor DHMEQ to kill hepatocellular carcinoma cells

Poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) enzymes play a key role in the cellular machinery responsible for DNA repair. Dehydroxymethylepoxyquinomicin (DHMEQ), a new inhibitor of NF-κB, induces oxidative stress and DNA damage. The effects of DHMEQ in combination with Olaparib (PARP inhibitor) were studied on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. The DHMEQ-Olaparib combination synergistically inhibited cell viability, cell proliferation and colony formation of Hep3B, but had additive effects on Huh7 cells. FINREP standartu izstrādāja Eiropas Banku iestāde, to izmantošana ir reglamentēta Eiropas Savienības kredītiestādēm, kas atbilst noteiktām prasībām. Maģistra darba mērķis ir izpētīt FINREP finanšu atskaišu veidošanas iespējas Oracle Hyperion Financial Management maksas rīkā, kā arī izpētīt pieejamos atvērtā koda darījumu inteliģences risinājumus.
