Background: An adequate vitamin intake is essential for a good nutritional status, especially in older women, who are more sensitive to nutritional deficiencies. The American, European and Italian Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDAs) derive mainly from studies on adults, and it is not clear whether they also apply to elderly people. Promoting older people's ability to manage at home is important both for themselves and for society, but few studies have explored whether geriatric rehabilitation actually meets the needs of this heterogeneous group. The purpose of this study was to investigate the meanings that older adults attribute to their geriatric rehabilitation experiences. Dynamical Casimir-Polder forces

We consider the dynamical Casimir-Polder force on an atom placed near an infinite conducting wall. The system is initially in a non equilibrium configuration such as a bare or a partially dressed state, and its time evolution is considered as well as the time dependence of the atom-wall Casimir-Polder interaction. A possible scheme to generate experimentally the initial partially dressed state and to detect the dynamical Casimir-Polder force is discussed.

We discuss the dynamical (i.e. time-dependent) Casimir-Polder force between a neutral atom and a real surface of arbitrary material, under non-equilibrium conditions. The Multidimensional Prognostic Index (MPI) can be considered a tool for the detection of multidimensional frailty. Abstract As a response to overall negative attitudes on nature conservation, Latvian scientists and artists launched a new initiative to communicate biodiversity. Unlike previous efforts, this initiative also included arts (poetry, music, dance and photo/video) as part of the information campaign. The early 1990s economic setback brought significant reforms favoring the outsourcing of care in Finnish municipalities. Here, outsourcing refers to the practice of municipalities employing private organizations through different means (e.g., open tendering) to deliver public care services. Care poverty : unmet care needs in a Nordic welfare state

This article introduces the concept of care poverty, defined as inadequate coverage of care needs resulting from an interplay between individual and societal factors, and examines its level and predictors among the 75+ population in Finland. The data come from a survey conducted in 2010 and 2015. Despite the universalistic goals of the Finnish care system, 26 percent of respondents with limitations in daily activities faced care poverty with regard to instrumental activities of daily living; the activities of daily living care poverty rate was 17 percent.
