Characterizations of the signs and symptoms of "vestibular migraine" and of Meniere's disease seem to overlap, suggesting that both diseases might be due to a common peripheral vestibular dysfunction. Thus, the aim of the present study was to assess vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials (VEMPs) in both disorders to determine whether there might be an electrophysiological link between the two disorders. AIM: To assess the safety and efficacy of cold loop myomectomy applied to bipolar resectoscope to perform "one-step" myomectomy of submucosal myomas with intramural involvement. METHODS: Seventy-two patients with at least one symptomatic G1 or G2 myoma (Wamsteker's classification) underwent cold loop myomectomy from January 2011 to January 2013. In the present study, we reported two cases of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) diagnosed in pregnant women (Pt) that were submitted to radical nephrectomy, in both cases within the fourth month. The patients, after 13 and 3 years, respectively, did not show evidence of recurrent disease. We performed an immunohistochemical study on RCC specimens in comparison to seven age-matched controls (Cl). The panel of antibodies included Ki-67, p53, bcl-2, ER, PgR, PCNA, and IGF-1. We describe a difference in the expression of p53 and Ki-67. Targetoid hemosiderotic hemangioma represents an uncommon, distinctive, benign lympho-vascular lesion, with a variable clinical appearance, typically occurs in the lower limbs and trunk. A b s t r ac t Background The efficacy and side-effect profile of ulipristal acetate as compared with those of leuprolide acetate for the treatment of symptomatic uterine fibroids before surgery are unclear. Methods In this double-blind noninferiority trial, we randomly assigned 307 patients with symptomatic fibroids and excessive uterine bleeding to receive 3 months of daily therapy with oral ulipristal acetate (at a dose of either 5 mg or 10 mg) or once-monthly intramuscular injections of leuprolide acetate (at a dose of 3.75 mg). Humic-like substances (HULIS) are ubiquitous in the atmospheric environment, which affects both human health and climate. We present here the mass concentration and optical characteristics of HULIS isolated from aerosol samples collected in Xi'an, China. Both mass concentration and absorption coefficient (Abs365) of HULIS show clear seasonal differences, with the highest average in winter (3.91 μgC m-3 and 4.78 M m-1, respectively) and the lowest in summer (0.65 μgC m-3 and 0.55 M m-1, respectively). Abstract This work investigates the production a green geopolymer-based concrete for a sustainable construction material using biomass wastes from a kraft pulp industry: fly ash (as main alumina-silicate source) and grits (as aggregate). Moreover, a simple, reproducible, ambient temperature, and low-cost manufacture is followed. Mix design aims to maximize wastes incorporation and optimize the mechanical performance. In Spain a significant number of individuals die from atherosclerotic disease of the coronary and carotid arteries without having classic risk factors and prodromal symptoms. The diagonal ear lobe crease (DELC) has been characterized in the medical literature as a surrogate marker which can identify high risk patients having occult atherosclerosis. This topic however has not been examined in either the medical or dental literature emanating from Spain. The production of nonfood products from agricultural raw materials is an important challenge. Efficiency of grain processing for sustainable development depends to a large extent on the harmony of the proposed system. Such a system must include consideration of all steps in the cycle from preparation of the field through cultivation of the grain crop; harvesting; total biomass utilization during processing stages; treatment of wastes; and back to preparation of the field.
