Behind the curtain of international diversification: An agency theory perspective

This paper dissects the antecedents of international diversification through the lens of the agency cost of free cash flow arguments. It explores whether the partial convergence of interests among managers, majority shareholders, and minority shareholders affects a firm's choice to diversify internationally. Using a sample panel of 60 Italian firms evaluated longitudinally from 2004 to 2014, the study tests whether a firm's international diversification is affected by its free cash flow (as the ultimate source of managerial discretion) and debt (as the main constraint to managerial discretion), especially in firm contexts that exacerbate agency problems. Materiali e metodi: Sono utilizzati i dati dell’indagine Istat sulle condizioni di vita (UDB IT-SILC), componente longitudinale. L’analisi è effettuata su un sotto-campione di 11.543 individui e 12 variabili, ottenuto dopo aver eliminato i dati mancanti per la variabile reddito e per le altre variabili rilevanti per la salute. IAQ monitoring in heritage buildings

Heritage buildings often operate in free conditions, as they are not equipped with HVAC systems. This calls for the interventions of proper measurements with the aim of monitoring and controlling indoor physical parameters. As matter of fact, the control of indoor conditions in museums is of paramount importance for the proper preservation of artefacts. Moreover, in such buildings another requirement should be achieved, that is the maintenance of the comfort and safety conditions for visitors. In this work the results of a survey carried out on a hall of a historical palace to estimate the people occupancy by making use concentration of CO(2) are reported.

Maģistra darbs ““Gada kandži” izvēles principi, to sistematizācija un kategorizācija” analizē “Gada kandži” akciju, kuras ietvaros japāņu balsotāji izvēlas hieroglifu jeb kandži, kurš viņuprāt vislabāk raksturo pagājušā gada notikumus. Līdz šim publiski pieejamos avotos netika atrasts neviens pētījums, kurš par analīzes objektu izvēlētos “Gada kandži”, un šīs akcijas vecums (norisinās kopš 1995. gada) ļauj spriest, ka iespējams šāda veida darbi nepastāv vispār. Šāds pētījums tomēr varētu dot ieskatu japāņu psiholingvistiskās konceptualizācijas procesos, kā arī kļūt par rīku turpmākiem pētījumiem japāņu lingvistikas un socioloģijas jomās.
