LAPAROSCOPIC SACROCOLPOPEXY IN THE TREATMENT OF VAGINAL VAULT PROLAPSE AND RECTOCELE. RETROSPECTIVE STUDY OF 64 CASES

2003

Objectives: To evaluate the results of the laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy using a polypropylene mesh. Methods: We performed laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy on 64 pts who presented a prolapse of the vaginal vault between the II and the IV degree according to HWS classification. The mean age was 65 (range 58-76) with variable parity. The vaginal vault prolapse was present after abdominal hysterectomy in 33 pts.(51%) and after vaginal hysterectomy in 24 pts. (38%). 7 pts. (11%) were affected by an isterocele of III -IV . 8pts(12%) presented a vault prolapse of I degree, 16pts.(25%) of II degree, 15pts.(23%) of III degree, 18 pts.(%) of VI degree. They were also affected by different degrees of cystour…

Rektumprolaps bei Erwachsenen - Ursache, Diagnostik, Therapie

2005

Despite progress in modern surgery, the choice of the surgical procedure of rectal prolapse is regarded with controversy. Selection criteria between the abdominal or perineal approach or between rectopexy and resection rectopexy are not yet proven. This article gives a review of the literature about rectal prolapse and an analysis of the outcome of posterior rectopexy and resection rectopexy--partly conventionally and partly laparoscopically--in 25 patients with rectal prolapse III degrees and IV degrees. All except for one patient were examined during a mean follow-up of 5.5 (3.1) years for the rectopexy group and 2.1 (0.7) years for the resection rectopexy group. Recurrence occurred in on…

Laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy in the treatment of vaginal vault prolapse: 8 years experience

2009

Abstract Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term results of a laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy for the treatment of vaginal vault prolapse. Study design Between January 1999 and January 2007, 165 laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy procedures, using a polypropylene mesh, were performed on women affected by vaginal vault prolapse. Intraoperative complications included: 5 bladder injuries and 3 sigmoid perforations. Postoperative complications included: 10 cases of fever, 5 cases of lumbosciatica, 15 cases of detrusor overactivity, 2 cases of vaginal haematoma, and 5 cases of minimal dispareunia. At 1, 6 and 12 months after surgery, a clinical evaluation was carried out for all patie…

Impact of the anterior commissure involvement on the survival of early glottic cancer treated with cricohyoidoepiglottopexy: a retrospective study

2018

However, the treatment of early glottic tumors with the involvement of the anterior commissure remains controversial. The studies about the role of anterior commi…

Skin-reducing Mastectomy with Primary Implant Reconstruction

2011

Background: We present a series of skin-sparing mastectomies (SSMs) with skin reduction and immediate breast reconstruction to treat large and ptotic breasts. The technique combines oncological mastectomy with immediate subpectoral implant placement as a single-step procedure. Methods: Data was collected from a prospective database from February 2009 to April 2011. A total of 24 patients with macromastia or pronounced ptosis fulfilled the criteria for skin-saving mastectomy. All operations were carried out as a single-step procedure with adaptation of the contralateral breast by reduction mastopexy. Results: A total of 27 SSMs were performed in 24 patients. The mean implant volume was 265 c…

1043 Evaluation of Pediatric Testes After Surgery by Laser Doppler and White Light Spectroscopy

2012

Aim To evaluate testes after unilateral orchiopexy Laser Doppler and white light spectroscopy and compare microcirculation with contralaterat testis and healthy controls. Methods A combination of the laser Doppler (determination of blood flow) and white light spectroscopy (determination of oxygen saturation and hemoglobin amount) is used to determine microcirculation at two different depth levels non-invasively. Patients were recruited after unilateral orchiopexy. Controls were age-matched boys without relevant disease. Ethical approval was obtained. Results 99 patients were included after unilateral orchiopexy at the age of 3.5 years (+-2.9 years). 65% underwent surgery after their second …

1583 Clinical and Ultrasound Examination after Unilateral Orchiopexy

2012

Aim To compare testis volume and ultrasound texture post unilateral orchiopexy with the other side. Methods Clinical re-examination and ultrasound measurement of testicle volume and echostructure were performed in 99 children after unilateral orchiopexy, performed between 2003 and 2007. Results Intraoperatively, 30 testis were described as hypoplastic. further 5 patients displayed pathologic funicular structures. On Follow-up clinical exam, 45 patients displayed a small or atrophic testis on the side of surgery. In 10 patients, the testis was described as bigger on the side of surgery. On ultrasound, 65 patients had similar pictures on the side of surgery compared to the other side. In the …

Locking Y Lateral Canthopexy as a Treatment for Dry Eye Disease Caused by Eyelid Malposition

2020

PURPOSE The signs and symptoms of dry eye disease (DED) can affect the quality of life of patients. This study analyzes whether locking Y lateral canthopexy improves patients' quality of life and in what way it does so (based on the ocular surface disease index questionnaire) and DED signs (measured by the fluorescein breakup time, tear osmolarity, Schirmer test, and corneal staining) in patients with DED caused by a eyelid malposition or impaired blink dynamics. METHODS This was a case-control study. Forty eyes of 20 patients with DED and lateral canthal disinsertion examined at the University Hospital La Ribera during a 1-year period from November 2016 to November 2017. The 40 eyes were d…

Les acteurs de la guerre

2010
