Comparing metoclopramide electrotransport kinetics in vitro and in vivo.
2010
The purpose of this work was to investigate the transdermal iontophoretic delivery of metoclopramide and to determine (i) the dependence of electrotransport on current density and drug concentration, (ii) the relative contributions of electromigration and electroosmosis and (iii) the feasibility of administering therapeutic amounts of drug, using a drug-sparing iontophoretic configuration. Iontophoretic delivery of metoclopramide (MCL) across dermatomed porcine ear skin was investigated in vitro as a function of concentration (10, 20, 40, 80 and 100mM) and current density (0.1, 0.2 and 0.3mAcm(-2)) using vertical flow-through diffusion cells. In vivo studies were performed in Wistar rats (4…
Influence of Chemical Enhancers and Iontophoresis on the In Vitro Transdermal Permeation of Propranolol: Evaluation by Dermatopharmacokinetics
2018
[EN] The aims of this study were to assess, in vitro, the possibility of administering propranolol transdermally and to evaluate the usefulness of the dermatopharmacokinetic (DPK) method in assessing the transport of drugs through stratum corneum, using propranolol as a model compound. Four chemical enhancers (decenoic and oleic acid, laurocapram, and R-(+)-limonene) and iontophoresis at two current densities, 0.25 and 0.5 mA/cm(2) were tested. R-(+)-limonene, and iontophoresis at 0.5 mA/cm(2) were proven to be the most efficient in increasing propranolol transdermal flux, both doubled the original propranolol transdermal flux. Iontophoresis was demonstrated to be superior than the chemical…
Taxonomic investigation on Allium hirtovaginum group (Amaryllidaceae) from East Mediterranean area
2021
Within taxonomic studies on Allium sect. Codonoprasum from Mediterranean flora, populations belonging to A. hirtovaginum Candargy group were examined. Based on field investigation and herbarium surveyes, this group is represented by very critical and not well known taxa, distributed in the East Mediterranean, showing a marked morphological variability. Currently, the species referable to this group in addition to A. hirtovaginum are also A. pilosum Sibth. & Sm., A. aeginiense Brullo, Giusso & Terrasi and A. nerimaniae Koçyiğit & Kaya. Besides, other 13 species are here described as new to science, they are A. pythagoricum, A. pignattii, A. hippocraticum, A. abanticum, A. velutin…
A semiempirical method based on geminal functions
1968
An attempt has been made to develop a semiempirical method which considers only the n- and π-electrons, with the eigenfunctions expressed as an antisymmetrized product of two-electron functions or geminals. These geminals are expressed as a linear combination of products of Huckel-type MO's and the matrix elements are evaluated assuming the strong orthogonality condition to hold among the geminals, with an average effective Hamiltonian where the interaction between paired electrons is explicitly included.
Size-consistent single-reference methods for electronic correlation: a unified formulation through intermediate hamiltonian theory
1996
Using the intermediate hamiltonian theory as a unique conceptual frame and the technique of CI matrix dressing, a wide series of single-reference methods for the treatment of the ground state correlation are reviewed, compared, and sometimes improved. These methods range from independent excitation approximation (the very next step beyond MP2) to coupled cluster, going through the so-called electron pair approximations and the (SC)2CI formalism. A hierarchy of these methods can be established according to two criteria: These formulations in terms of diagonalizations of dressed CI matrices avoid convergence problems, but their main advantage is their flexibility, since they apply to multi-re…
Assaying waterborne psychoactive drugs by the response to naturalistic predator cues in the stickleback (Gasterosteus aculeatus)
2020
Abstract Ecotoxicological effects of psychiatric drugs and drug metabolites released by the human population are of increasing environmental concern. In this study we evaluate behavioral responses to visual predator cues in wild caught three-spined stickleback (Gasterosteus aculeatus) after exposure to water-born citalopram, a widely prescribed selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor with antidepressant and anxiolytic effects. Fish were exposed to ecological relevant concentrations of citalopram (0.15 or 1.5 μg L−1) for 10 or 20 days. After drug exposure, individual fish were moved to a test arena where they were exposed to two naturalistic visual predator cues; a shadow from beneath, which …

Pantoprazola gatavās zāļu formas formulācija un analītisko metožu izstrāde. Pluce A., zinātniskie vadītāji Dr. Chem., docente Osīte A., Mg.
Presystemic metabolism and intestinal absorption of antipsoriatic fumaric acid esters.
2003
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease. Its treatment is based on the inhibition of proliferation of epidermal cells and interference in the inflammatory process. A new systemic antipsoriasis drug, which consists of dimethylfumarate and ethylhydrogenfumarate in the form of their calcium, magnesium and zinc salts has been introduced in Europe with successful results. In the present study, a homologous series of mono- and diesters of fumaric acid has been studied with respect to the sites and kinetics of presystemic ester degradation using pancreas extract, intestinal perfusate, intestinal homogenate and liver S9 fraction. In addition, intestinal permeability has been determined usi…
Comparison of 24-h control of gastric acidity by three different dosages of pantoprazole in patients with duodenal ulcer
1998
Background It is now clear that the extent to which gastric acid secretion must be suppressed varies with the clinical condition being treated. Aim To assess the 24-h control of gastric acidity and the individual response variability of three different doses of pantoprazole. Methods Sixty-four duodenal ulcer patients were recruited for this prospective, randomized, multicentre, double-blind, parallel-group study. They were subdivided into three well-matched groups treated with 20 mg o.m., 40 mg o.m. and 40 mg b.d. of pantoprazole, respectively. Endoscopy and intragastric pH monitoring were performed in each patient before and after 14 days of treatment. Results Fifty-five patients were elig…
Ab initio SCF and CI calculations on the barrier to internal rotation of 1,3-butadiene
1972
Ab initio SCF and CI calculations employing a set of gaussian lobe functions have been carried out for the ground and excited states of five geometrical C4H6-structures occurring in the course of rotation from cis-butadiene to the trans-isomer. The rotational potential curves are discussed for the ground and excited states. Particularly the potential curve of the lowest triplet state is considered in this connection thereby substantiating quantitatively the proposed mechanism for induced dimerisation of C4H6. Possible assignments of the lowest singlet excited states in trans-butadiene are discussed.
