La Seconda Vita dell'Ambiente Costruito
2021
Invisible Graffiti on Your Buildings: Blind and Squaring-Proof Watermarking of Geographical Databases
2007
Due to the ease of digital copy, watermarking is crucial to protect the intellectual property of rights owners. We propose an effective watermarking method for vectorial geographical databases, with the focus on the buildings layer. Embedded watermarks survive common geographical filters, including the essential squaring and simplification transformations, as well as deliberate removal attempts, e.g. by noise addition, cropping or over-watermarking. Robustness against the squaring transformation is not adressed by existing approaches. The impact on the quality of the datasets, defined as a composition of point accuracy and angular quality, is assessed through an extensive series of experime…
Selective Laser Melting of Ti6Al4V: Effects of Heat Accumulation Phenomena Due to Building Orientation
2022
Titanium alloy Ti6Al4V is one of the most utilized alloys in the field of additive manufacturing due to the excellent combination of mechanical properties, density and good corrosion behavior. These characteristics make the use of this material particularly attractive for additively manufacturing components with complex geometry in sectors such as aeronautics and biomedical. Selective Laser Melting (SLM), by which a component is fabricated by selectively melting of stacked layers of powder using a laser beam, is the one of most promising additive manufacturing technologies for Ti6Al4V alloy. Although this technique offers numerous advantages, it has some critical issues related to the high …
Time perspective and Facebook addiction: The moderating role of neuroticism
2021
The present paper verified the hypothesis that neuroticism moderates the relationship between past-negative or present-fatalistic time perspectives and Facebook addiction. A sample of 248 Facebook users (Female: 66%, mean age: 21.5 years) filled the Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventor and the Facebook Addiction Italian Questionnaire. Two hierarchical regression analyses tested a moderator model in which time perspectives have been defined as independent variables, Facebook addiction as dependent variables, and neuroticism as moderator. Gender and age were introduced in the model as covariates. Results show that past-negative significantly predicts Facebook addiction through the moderation ef…

Binding, Interaction, and Organization of Proteins with Lipid Model Membranes
1991
Model membrane systems are used to investigate protein recognition and binding at interfaces. Fluorescence microscopy results are presented for interactions of the proteins, phospholipase A2 and antifluorescyl IgG, at lipid monolayer interfaces. Total internal reflection fluorescence measurements are used to quantify albumin and IgG adsorption to supported lipid monolayers.
Recent Experimental Results with the PSTM: - Observation of a Step on a Quartz Surface. - Spatial Spectroscopy of Microwaveguides
1993
The Photon Scanning Tunneling Microscope (PSTM) is based on the frustration of the total internal reflected beam by the end of an optical fiber. Till today it has been used to obtain topographic information generally for smooth samples. In this paper we report two different kinds of experimental results. First, when the sample is in the form of a step, our measurements demonstrate how the images, obtained in the constant intensity mode, depend on the orientation of the incident beam of light with respect to the step. Next, we show that the first derivative of the collected intensity with respect to the probe-sample distance at each point of the sample yields to a new kind of image named her…
Effects of fiber orientation of adjacent plies on the mode I crack propagation in a carbon-epoxy laminates
2011
Abstract The influence of ply orientation on the resistance to mode I delamination of multidirectional composite laminates can be assessed by Double Cantilever Beam (DCB) tests. However, one of the difficulties associated with such a study is the change in overall elastic parameters occurring when modifying local ply orientations. The present work uses laminates with special stacking sequences allowing for isolating the orientation parameter. Multidirectional DCB specimens were designed so as to obtain an uncoupled quasi isotropic and quasi-homogeneous elastic behavior, with the same properties for the entire laminate and the two sub laminates separated by the pre crack at mid-plane. The re…
Dynamics of goal pursuit and personality make-up among emerging adults: Typology, change over time, and adaptation
2010
In recent years young people's lives have been characterized by postponement of developmental timetables, inconsistencies of transitions, and loss of direction in life. Data from a longitudinal study of Israeli young adults show that the capacity for setting realistic work and love goals reflects inner strengths and is associated with adaptive outcomes. Less-articulated love and work goals are associated with underlying personality difficulties and are predictive of less stable and less adaptive outcomes. The interplay of goal constellations and personality constructs, and its association with adaptive and less adaptive outcomes is presented and discussed. © Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
